Chicago Drum Show 2014 Last viewed: 22 minutes ago

Thanks JC..

I actually have only missed maybe 5-8 shows out of the 25...or however many...but it gets so expensive to do.....

I was at the very first one Rob put on.... in Alma,Michigan!..Maybe 30-40 people showed up...LOL

With a table/food/gas/hotel...it is easily over $1K to do...properly...and the sleeper deals on drums/cymbals seem less and less each year I am finding...

I think now it is better just to go there and buy...no table...take it home, sell it...make your $$ that way...heck of a lot less work....

I remember sorting parts into fresh Ziplock bags every year...fresh labels..and would have to start 2-3 mths before the show...as I had some many parts!

I know I sold around $10,000 just in parts over 5-6 years..as we issued receipts with each sale.....that's a lot of parts!

I learned early on that most people just brought drums/cymbals to sell...and I had so many parts....that if that was about all I would bring,I would have the market cornered..and I was right!

Back to regular programming......

Australia?? Wow, like old drums is an understatement. It sounds a little funny to me that people are planning these big trips, airline included to come to these fairgrounds...probably because it's just in my back yard. It's not like I have never done 'trips' like this though, there is a big car show/event in Bowling Green, KY I used to attend every year. Hotel, travel, food, fun, it all had a price tag and I am sure the locals felt the same way from me out of town when it was in their back yard. It's nice to see the feedback and lengths people are going to here though, it really is making me more excited to go!

I just hope I don't find to much that I want to buy now....

I do have a booth there but I'm definately there for the social aspect of the show. Where else can you be in a room full of vintage drum enthusiasts? Cost of the trip? I see it as a vacation.

Here is a photo of Dave Brown caught by hotel security, stealing a Ludwig Triumphal model drum in Chicago.

Jenkins- Martin will be there.

This will be our third year there and we will have three kits on display along with a load of snare drums. Along with our Blaemire model kit we will have two colored J-M kits that will blow your mind....cant wait to show them. This show has always been good for us.

I hope to see a lot of you there. Please stop by and say hello.
