Wow dudes, some great kits. Here is my current config of Blaemire Legacies.
Awesome! Those really glow very nice, they are beautiful.
First is a 1966 Club Date 20/12/14 w/ matching jazzfest snare. I have only played a gig or two with these. I use these when playing in lower volume gigs. Bought this kit from forum member, Nevin "Surface."
Second, early 70's Ludwig Big Beat. 22/12/13(not pictured)/16. 3-ply with clear interior. Snare in this photo is the Pearl Chad Smith Signature. This is my primary gigging kit for the most part. A score of a find at $200!!!
Third, a bit of a matching pieced together kit. Bass drum is a 1949 Leedy with the original calf skin reso head. The previous owner added the modern spur mounts :( Snare is a 1941 Ludwig & Ludwig and the toms are MIJ; 13" rack and 14" floor. These drums are almost never used. I bought them from an elderly man more than ten years ago, and because of his story with them, I just can't seem to part with them.
Great thread!! Thanks
For some blues gigs last month, I was gigging my beloved Ludwig Standards. They got rave reviews. What a killer sound from those old 3-ply shells.
For the theater gig I'm currently playing, I needed more toms and a punchier sound, so my knockabout Yamaha set came off the shelf -- but my Standard aluminum snare turned out to be the right sound for the theater we're playing in (once again edging out my $400 brass snare).
Man! You guys have the coolest stuff!
I'm particularly fond of Travst01's Leedy. What a great looking kit!
This has been my main kit lately. 59 Leedy with an added 59 Slingerland floor tom...sort of my tribute to Mel Taylor.
