John sorry to hear about the delays. I hope the drum shows up soon. Hang in there buddy all will be well in time. Yes the waiting sucks and it's stressful to have that caliber of snare drum out there waiting to find it's way home. I can see the drum showing up on Black Friday being a Black Beauty. She wants to make a grand entrance. flowers2

Glenn - at this point brother, I'll take any 'entrance' at all! I don't like having such a valuable drum just floating around out there... somewhere. CryBaby

If this thread has a little bit of everything, I guess this is the 'high-drama' part! Man, I could use one of those Quaaludes from the 70's just about now! LOL

Mike Layton - As always, thank you, brother. You do far more for me than I ever do for you. You da man!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

In spite of all the anxiety over this drum, I just want to say...

I'm thankful for all my friends and acquaintances at VDF. Another year in the books! I wish you all a peaceful, happy holiday season and good health for the upcoming year!

I love you guys!

Happy Thanksgiving...

Ok, I've officially stopped worrying! I did a Google search on; Problems with USPS registered mail, and I came up with a bunch of threads from all kinds of forums where members were experiencing the exact same thing I am.

It turns out that Registered mail just sucks! Period. It's the safest way to send something, but it's historically been the slowest. All of the threads had complaints about how tracking is never updated, (the thing that has been driving me nuts,) and that usually it'll show some initial movement (like mine,) and then no more updates until it is delivered! Apparently, this is 'par for the course' with registered mail items.

My black beauty -will- get here. Who knows how long it will take, but get here it will. My concern was coming from the lack of updates at the tracking site. USPS tracking sucks. I've stopped worrying! It's Registered mail... it'll get here.

Yep! The problem with USPS tracking is that the scanning system is antiquated. Any technology older than five years is antique by today's standards. The real problem is that the USPS scans aren't "real-time". The USPS scanners only store the scan and then have to be uploaded at a later time. USPS letter carriers are only just now starting to get real-time scanners.

Oh, John, by the way... Reading has your Registered parcel right now. Theresa said she contacted you and you can pick it up today, so it looks like the BB should be in your hands shortly. Keep us all informed.
