> There are few photos of what it actually looked like.
Tom posted several in his original thread. Look for original Black Beauty Found thread, more photos of the drum in original condition are already posted there.
>The heads were tight and now it appears to be a floating head with the Aluminum rings, that makes big differences in the way it sounds.
I'm sorry, I don't understand.'Floating head'? What do you mean by a floating head? The calf heads and gut snares made the drum sound like a wet cardboard box. You bet I changed the heads.
>Does it have a snarebed,? I couldn`t tell with the skin but now I think I see a small one.
Yes, the same crimped beds like you'll see on all their brass snare drums.
>Never heard or saw the beaded edges, the photo is too reflective under that lighting and can`t see it well. First time hearing but not seeing that for me.
Again, sorry, I'm not a pro photographer. I did the best I could with the shot. I'll take a couple more and see if it isn't a little easier to see the rings.
> sh*t like that I don`t have to ask with a proper photo documented tear down. You did tear it down once.
How many 'photo documented tear downs' have you seen here at VDF? I wasn't approaching the thread that way (as a photo document on Black Beauty's) I was just sharing how I acquired and cleaned-up the drum. I'm taking photos indoors under not so optimum lighting conditions (incandescent bulbs) and I apologized for the dark photos up front. If I could have gotten some better shots, I would have. WYSIWYG - what you see is what you get.
....Did the lightbulb work in a lamp ?
I'm not going to 'test it' to find out. If I blow the original bulb testing it (after 90 years,) then no more 'original' bulb. I'll just leave it as is. Let the next guy plug it in. Whoever gets the drum after I'm gone will be getting the drum in the same condition (if not better) that I got it in.
