once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Gary - I only just now sent him your number, give him time to get to his email. I told him to call you on your cell to arrange an appointment to meet. He'll be calling you. Just please keep me posted.

Robyn - I don't know why you automatically thought of me... this is the most I ever spent on a single drum in my life. I probably won't ever do it again either, too nerve wracking when this much $ is involved.

Glenn - This will be my first! I have always lusted in my heart for one of these, but they were always just way out of my league price-wise. It's the first time in my life that the opportunity for one of these and my ability to buy have coincided. The stars have aligned! I'll let you know how I like it when I have it on a snare stand in front of me. I can't wait.

***TOM - Hope you're following along. Call Gary, he's expecting a call from you. Let's Git R' Done!

if youre gonna play it, get some modern clips for it. its hard to tune them to modern type sounds without breaking the original clips. you especially don't want to break the art gold clips. i'm sure that you know all of this...

on my early 20's 5x14 8 lugger, I used the clips that you had bought and put on a drum that I got from you. they were chrome over brass. you can still buy nickel over brass too.

johnive looked over the pics pretty good. ive got one of those without the deluxe trimmings. have owned another one as well. the only thing that stood out to me was the added light/heater. mike

Mikey - That was a concern to me too! Before I sent Tommy an offer, I called Steve Maxwell's in Manhattan and spoke with the manager whom I have dealt with before on several occasions. Very knowledgeable guy. He assured me that the internal bulb set-up was an option at time of purchase and based on my description of the bulb fixture and the heavy gage wires, he was comfortable with it being factory installed as opposed to 'after-market alteration.' He told me the presence of the internal bulb did not hurt the drum's value at all. Based on that information, I submitted an offer to Tom.

I'm being super careful about this purchase. Doing my homework up-front. So far, everything checks out. After speaking with him on the phone, Tom seems like a good guy and after Gary gets to check it out for me, money and drums will change hands!

I'm feeling a 'fun kind of nervous' like when you ask a girl out for the first time. Thrilled and scared $hitless all at the same time. Eye Ball

LOL

not becoz i think you spend or can afford to spend alot on drums but becoz this drum fits you, and your personality. both, you and drum are "top of the line" in the drummers world.

It's not easy to do because I've been around the block a few times, but you actually made me blush! Kiss

Knock it off! It's too close to X-mas for me to be walking around with rosy cheeks! Someone might mistake me for an elf with an over-active thyroid problem. lol

i'd at least run the heater factory option by curotto first. I am not aware of that. it may be totally correct tough. could also be a dealer install option I assume. if not factory, would certainly affect value though. if you get it for the right price, not a factor anyway. the heater/light wouldn't bother me one bit personally.

Good call! I still have a handful of those, but I'm sure not enough for all 16 rods. I'll order up some more. They 'may' even be available in a brass finish that will match the gold-tone finish of the hoops and lugs.

And yes, most definitely, I -am- going to play it!
