Oooh, looks like someone knows their USPS P&DC/Transportation SOP's! Quite correct there. Yes, there is nothing more secure than Registered Mail, but the security processes require employee signatures of acceptance every time the piece changes hands. This protects against loss, but can delay the piece slightly more than First Class or Priority Mail which are handled and sorted through completely automated processes. Small price to pay. It's the only way to ship something that has intrinsic value and which can't be replaced (like a rare BB!)

Ok, here's the latest poop... I just got off the phone with a very sweet postal worker in Illinois named, Dorita. Dorita told me not to worry, because registered mail must be -signed for- each step along the way, it is the -slowest- way to send anything! It's the price you pay for the increased security the package receives. It'll get here... just can't say when.

John,

That's exactly what I said several posts ago! Relax. In 30 years with the Postal Service, I've only seen one Registered Parcel get lost (and that's because it contained illegal drugs and was stolen from one of our drivers). Many can't get delivered for various reasons, but those always make it back to the sender. Registered mail is sloooow. I had to respond to a similar complaint from Rolex this month. When Dorita in Chicago punched in your Reg. Tracking number, she got a whole lot more information than you can get when you use the Tracking tool at USPS.com. Your local Post Office can also watch this package every step of the way. Keep in contact with them.

I picture John holed up in the house - or should we say "The Purdie Compound" ? What day are we on? Helicopters flying overhead waiting for the deliverer to arrive.

Hope it makes it today :)

Mike - That's exactly what I said several posts ago!

I was paying attention, all Dorita did was confirm what you had already told me. Thank you.

>Relax. In 30 years with the Postal Service, I've only seen one Registered Parcel get lost

That's comforting. The mailman came and went already today, no drum. The tracking update at USPS has not changed since 11:36 am monday morning. It left Chicago and was apparently swallowed by a Black Hole. I can only hope that it pops out of the inter-dimensional vortex in the near future, as opposed to, the distant future where I will be long gone. Maybe it'll be found in a cave with an elderly Japanese soldier who doesn't know the war is over and they'll deliver it to me with great fanfare and pomp!

Who knows?

Anyway, thanks, Mike. At least I have the feedback of someone who knows the system. Much appreciated.

John,

I'm at work right now. If you PM me the tracking number, I can run it and PM you what I see (I can't share anything about your mail publicly on the forum).

in this case John anticipation does not even begin to imagine the truth of this museum drum! garyflowers2

btw that snare is my new sweetheart, i cant believe the sound and shes so clean were did it come from? ty whoever got it

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I bought that Acro for you from Mike Layton. It was, Mikes drum originally. As you can see from the example you are playing, Mike takes excellent care of his drums.

It's -yours- now! Enjoy it!

Ok, I heard back from, Mike! Here is a copy of the note I received from him:

"John,

This isn't encouraging. Internal scan records show it left the Chicago processing facility on 11/25 just before noon (Enroute) and hasn't been accepted (Recieved) by whichever Processing and Distribution Center (P& DC Plant) handles the mail for your local Post Office. From this info alone, it looks like it could be in PA. but hasn't been recorded and processed yet. While local Post Offices and Delivery Services are shut down for Thanksgiving, the Plants continue to operate 24/7. Doubtful Reading will have this for delivery on Friday, but I'll run another tracking Friday morning when I get into work.

Mike"

All mail into Reading, PA where I live is routed through the Harrisburg sorting center. If it left Chicago on Monday at noon, then it -should have- reached, Pittsburg then, Harrisburg by now! It just hasn't been officially 'checked in' at the Harrisburg facility. I have searched for a phone number for them, but none exists! Even the supervisor at my local P.O. has no contact number for the Harrisburg sorting facility.

I'm SCREWED! I just have to wait this out. So far, this has become the week from Hell! I hope something breaks soon. The end of my rope is in sight. I haven't reached it yet, but I can see the end-tip from here! LOL

Deep breath.... let go.... relax!
