Dude! Kit looks awesome, Jeff! Glad you where able to repair the hoops and put 'em to good use. BTW, other tom mounting option: hang it on a cymbal stand like I did with dad's kit. I was gonna modify the L-rod so that I could hang the tom with the original diamond-plate & clip, but decided instead to go with the rim mount to allow the shell to resonate better. Again, nice job!

Don't do anything to it. not the tom, not the bass. you will be glad. Use a snare stand for the tom. Pure and simple.

A RIMS mount won't be permanent at all and the drum will sound better.

Excacty. Bass & Tom remain untouched, as is. Get best possible sound from the drums. Plus, you can locate the tom more over the bass if you want to. Like I said, just another option.

Thanks for the advice, I might look into the rim mounts but for now I think the snare stand is working fine. The only issue is that you cant place the snare stand as close with the 24" bass drum, so the rim mount might be better for that.

Dang, I wish my chrome was like yours! Cant remember, did you re-chrome the rims and lugs? They look brand new, and that to me is a good thing.

Yeah, about 90% of the harware & 13" hoops are rechromed. The 16" hoops are some mint condition (supposedly NOS) cob's I found on Ebay for a good price. The original hoops where pretty beat-up and dented. I've got a good 2-3 hours in the 13's working the dings and dents out.

Sweet kit, Jeff...and great resto job! My '58 Luddy kit is a rewrap...and I like it. It feels like it's the best of both worlds...cool vintage drums with brand new wrap. I personally love the consolette rail mounts with the spade and diamond plate on the tom...looks so damn cool and functions just fine. Is that the same setup you would have on your Slingy?
