I wouldn't do it to a vintage drum - not for one tom anyway. But I don't like virgin bass drums. Stupid idea for a working drummer, imo.

You and I must be the only two heretics in here. In my opinion, drum set bass drums are intended to be pack mules on which to build the drum set.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Well, it appeared that Cozy Cole subscribed to that very same opinion also, so I guess you're in good company...

Anybody know what the additional foot pedal next to the hat pedal is for? I don't.

Believe it or else!

If this is a gigging kit, then do it. I no longer have this kit, but I had a Tama mount installed on a 24" Slingerland BD. It was the only way to get 14" and 15" toms in the position I wanted. Of course, this was in 1982 and the drums were only five years old.

It'd be ideal if you can mount with Slingerland gear, but you'd have to use a Super Set-O-Matic: a regular S-O-M just isn't very flexible.

I don't use racks, but that's another option.

9x Slingerland New Rock 50N 12-13-16-22 with 170 (Super S-O-M) holder

• 1976 Black Cordova
• 1975 Silver Sparkle + 5x14 SD (Rapid strainer)
• 1974 Chrome + 5x14 COB TDR and 6.5x14 COW Zoomatic SDs

That pedal strikes upward to make the left hand floor tom act as a second bass drum.

My first pro drum set was a scaled back four piece version of Cozy Cole's drum set with a tom, cymbal, and snare drum all mounted with Swivomatic hardware.

A hoop mount can be mounted as high up or as low down as you want.
