I actually have 25 kits and 70 snare drums, all mint. I have a good reason for having so many nice drums, you see, my Uncle Albert, (That's right), passed on in 2008 and since I was the only other drummer in the family, he left me his collection. He had been collecting drums for 40 years. He was never married and had no children of his own, he was like a second father and a great man, he also was a pretty decent drummer in his day or so I was told by my father. By the time I got into drumming, he had put down his sticks due to health reasons.

I would never had the patience of funds to collect so many fine drums, I've thought about selling the collection, but I just can't do it. We were very close and I'm going to pass these down to my children.

Amazing story.

You didn't ask, but I would counsel you to make arrangements for this amazing investment in the event of something unfortunate happening.

Find a friend or anyone who knows or can figure out the value of the collection, and just tell everyone "if anything happens to me, call Jerry (or whomever) about Albert's drums."

This would help prevent the drums being sold off for too little in an estate auction or the like.

I thought I saw a post on here where someone had like 500 vintage kits and rented them or something? Anyway I just capped my collection at 13 and hope to stick there. Most are average to good players that I brought back to life. I also have 22 snares. May keep collecting snares but feel like I am pretty close to tapped....for now at least.

This is a good thread! I am waiting for mikey777 to chime in. I know he must have a ton, but he hardly posts here anymore?

I remember reading one post of his that he had mentioned that he owned a Ludwig Standard Kit in every color they offered.

Hey mikey777, we would love to hear from you!

Can I ask what may seem like a stupid question, do you guys buy these kits at a low price and then restore them and where in the world would one keep so many kits? I can see ten or possibly twenty, but when you start getting over fifty, I mean, Guitar Center doesn't even have that many drums!Keep on Pl
