drum collection? I know it is not me as I only keep 5-8 kits at any one time. I am curious though as to how many kits you guys typically have. For me it is 100% fun and my only rule is that I cannot ever lose money on a drum kit. I am also curious as to what you guys do with your kits. For example, I am not a turner and burner. I typically will play my kits for awhile and then sell. I usually have two or three set up in the house (two in the basement and a small jazz kit in the parlor). The rest are stacked and awaiting their time to be thrown into the rotation. I will always have a great sounding but extremely battle scarred vintage kit set up at my two practice spots. Currently I have a mid 70's Slingerland three piece with an Acrolite at one and a late 60's Ludwig Standard with a Supra at the other. Please share your habits.

Like you, I have 8 kits, most of which are vintage. In all honesty, I really don't play any more, so I'll be in the process of selling some kits in the coming months. However, my snare drum collection currently numbers close to 40, most of which are on display in the Drum Room at my girlfriends house. I rotate my vintage kits for display, currently showing my 1968 Slingerland Buddy Rich kit and 1966-67 Rogers Buddy Rich Headliner kit.

Not me, I only have six, but I do feel like some sort of domestic king because I have five of them set up in my living room. Number 6 is in the bedroom and (honest) my gal loves it, especially #6.

Another slick trick is consolidation. For instance, I just got a 22/13/16/5.5x14 from verminator that is identical to a 22/13/16/5.5x14 set I already had. Two sets? Now one large set. Cue Barry White...

I'm stuck on 4 kits but I'd like more. Or at least to borrow some for months at a time.
9 kits, 17 snare drums... way too many for any one man. Some will have to go. At this point, I'd rather see some of them being enjoyed/played, than just sitting in my basement un-played. I'd like to strip down to 3 kits and a few snares... it's all I need.

You guys are all making me feel quite normal, as I only have two kits and four snares (I've had up to three kits at once, but started feeling like I had a problem). I'd like more, but can't justify the expense right now. I'd like to know: 1. How you were able to convince your girlfriends/wives of the investment and 2. How did you make a drum room out of your girlfriend's (not your) spare room? Teach me, oh great vintage drum wizards!! :)
Not even close. I know a guy across town who has twice as many sets as I have, and we know a guy 40 miles away who has more than that.
