I predict you are going to absolutely *love* that 13" snare. I mentioned before I had one for a couple years, just a Dixie but man what a firecracker! And now, my 14" snares seem too big.
Bizarre about the keyrod BD rods! Wicked score, enjoy!

Yes...the 2n's bass drum had regular tension rods and the snare was 13" with the clam shell. I had that set in silver sparkle with an added 14" floor tom. It too had original calfs when I got it. It was the best sounding vintage set I ever had and I've had a bunch.
I learn something new all the time in this forum. I had no idea that regular tom type tension rods were used on Slingerland bass drums in those years. I love my 4"x13" Slingerland snare drum that I received as a gift from one of my favorite customers when I retired from being a manufacturer's representative. It has the trusty old three point strainer. This little drum may or may not be all original except for what is probably a newer wrap. But, I love it for what it means to me as much as I love it for how it plays and sounds. it works out perfectly with my 20-12-14 late 60's Slingerland set.
I was able to confirm that it is in fact a 13 inch snare. Cool stuff.

Absolutely gorgeous! I need to own a 13" snare again...!

This is the drumset that keeps on giving. I just got a box delivered by UPS and had no idea what it could be. It turns out that the music store who sold me the kit forgot to send a large brief case looking drum box, a cowbell and canvas bags for all of the drums. I cannot verify if these items are orginal to the kit or not, but damn. I now have the three drums which are all in original fantastic shape (some nicks on the bass drum hoops), correct hi hat stand in great shape, camco foot pedal, snare stand, cowbell, canvas bags and drum carrying brief case. It is like a time piece. So friggin cool.
I recently discovered the link ( is that the right word) for all those slingerland catalogues, where you can read each page .It is a very interesting read. The one I had as a kid was the 77 catalogue.
Can you please share that link?? Thanks!
