Here is the kit that I am having a lot of fun playing right now. 70`s Ludwig`s 26x16, 14x10, 16x16, 18x16 and a 402. The cymbals are all 70`s 2002`s except the ride (22" 505 heavy) hats are 15"SE. I love the sound of the 2002`s.

Dig it! Classic and simple. Same setup I use. Sweet kit, by the way.

When jamming or doing a party I use my 1963 Ludwig Hollywood kit with one of the snares from my collection (depending on the gig and my mood). At home I just use my Roland HD-1 (with a TD-3 module and duel trigger snare) to stay "in shape".

Ludwig kick, Gretsch toms, I sold this kit to a friend 20 years ago and just bought it back. He lost the BD spurs, the BD hoops [maple], and the FT legs lol. I made lemonade out of these losses in the following ways -

Clip-on spurs mean I can orient the kick however I want - voila! a faux virgin kick drum [huge Pearl tom mount is next to bottom panel]

Managed to source one Ludwig hoop nearby, 50 bucks. Back hoop is MIJ [sorry!] for now, with close enough matching inlay. I actually prefer the black with inlay as it visually anchors the kick in a way I like.

FT legs are one boom arm from cymbal boom stand, two lengths of half-inch roundstock. Again I actually prefer straight legs, so yes....I'm good at making myself feel better lol.

Snare is 30s Ludwig with chopper hoops, really need to put some triple flange on there. Cymbals - I always look for old Zildjians with smaller, low-profile bells. Cracked and or keyholed is okay.

Switching back and forth between a 1971 Ludwig 20/12/14 and a Gretsch Round Badge 22/13/16 (shown with an extra 8x12 Slingerland tom) and a '71 Ludwig 6.5x14 snare.

ElMoonlight - Old school is all I can afford. It just so happens that it is, in my opinion, some of the highest quality and best sounding drums & cymbals ever made.

Very, very nice. Boy, would those sound authentic in a Swing band, but my butt certainly wouldn't hold up all night on that "period-correct" seat. I'd have to break the vintage vibe with my Roc-n-Soc throne.
