George Way set Last viewed: 6 minutes ago

John,

No hard feelings, although I would have appreciated a PM with your intentions, as I fully intended to drive to this music shop as soon as I got out of work and purchase this set. I already had the cash in my wallet, and just like you, I was going to buy this set primarily to ensure that it would end up in the hands of someone who really appreciated its rarity and collectability. I opened this thread emphasizing that I know little about G.Way or Camco drums. They belong in the hands of someone who will truely appreciated them. I've heard Camco's played, and although they have an excellent vintage sound, I don't find them exceptionally superior to any other quality set of the same period. But then again, I am a bit of a Rogers snob.

And to my fellow members, I don't feel John highjacked my purchase. If I truely didn't want this set to possibly fall into the hands of a fellow VDF member, would I have posted the seller's contact info and Craigslist link? NO! Trust me, if this had been a Rogers Cleveland set in the same condition for the same price, no one here would have ever seen it until I posted a picture of it sitting in my basement.

Hope I eased your conscience, John, and any ill-will felt by our community, but if you want to really feel good about this set landing in your basement rather than mine... do you really need that Speed King pedal included with the set? ;)

I've said it before NEVER post what you might be buying. I scored a GW 6 lug snare in BLk/ Red duco off of Craigslist because it was posted on the forum. In my case it was an hour aWAY from me. Also the member that posted was actually commenting on what a weirdo the person must be as it was an odd description to say the least and no pics.

I called immediately and told the guy I wanted it but couldn't make it out for two days. Amazingly he held the drum and I paid his full asking price.

If you or any other member has a question about a Camco or George Way drum that is on craigslist, Ebay, etc. I strongly urge you to PM me. I will not buy anything out from under you. But if you post it on the forum you might as well kiss it goodbye!

BTW I never saw the pics and the listing is pulled. What exactly is the kit?

DOH!!! Thanks!

George Way drums have white paint on the interiors. The only exceptions I've seen are in snare drums and they were either marchers or 6 luggers.

I'd bet money that the bass drum is a Camco and not a GW. Especially if that is a 20" as GW 20" bass drums are very rare and hard to find.

Please post some detailed pics when you get the kit John. If it is clear interiors on a GW kit that would be a first for me!

Good details to know. So the bass might be a Camco? Might account for the lack of a G.Way badge on the bass drum. So maybe only the snare is a GW since that's the only GW badge the seller photographed. John will have to share pic's once there in his hands.

No Mike, I don't need the pedal. PM me. I have something else I'd like to add to the pedal to make this up to you. Send me your mailing/shipping info.

And thank you for being such a menche! It's no less than I expected from you. PM me, I'll make this up to you... promise!

Just FYI - I heard from two other VDF members that tried to buy the kit and simply didn't succeed in their efforts. Posting that kit caused a mini land-rush. I did however want to be honest and up front about my buying the kit. Buying it like I did was bad enough, I'll make good for it, but I didn't want to be total jerk about it and hide the purchase afterward. I opted to tell the truth.

Sorry Mike, I honestly could not help myself. PM me your mailing info. The pedal and a cool surprise will be on the way shortly.

Wow...totally missed out on this thread yesterday. I'm with several of you here...NEVER post anything you are interested in buying until AFTER you make the deal. This was a sweet score!

John...kudos to you for coming clean and for hooking up Mike with a sweet prize. Can't wait to see more pics AFTER she is home in your hands.
