OK so the mount in the middle of the bass drum is a lil larger than the usual? is that why you're saying it might be a double tom mount? So you're saying its a good deal for the 700 or would you only take it for 600? are the drums maple? also the bass drum tom mount (the one in the middle) you're saying i could add that to the tom? and then move the cymbal mount (the one that looks like a handle) to the right side of the bass drum?Thanks for the help

Hi. I think it'd be a good deal at $700, but you might be able to get it for less, particularly right about now. According to"The Ludwig Book", they should be mahogany/ poplar/mahogany shells. Yes, I'd move it to the tom and put carriage bolts in the holes left on the bass. If you want to mount the tom, you'll need an arm. He may have it, they'e not very expensive. I really prefer to use a snare stand. If it was a twin tom kit, there'll be no holes on the R of the bass for a cymbal mount. I'd play it like this {see pic!}

Yes, it does have a S/S hoop, but at least it's Ludwig. Use it in back, or replace the inlay. Looks like a nice looking, solid set for a really reasonable price.

The only cymbal mount I see is on the left side of the bass. Either custom order, or added for a lefty. That combo of sizes would make me think it was 12/13/16 originally, making the mount correct.Floor tom legs look ok to me for that era. I'd definately go check them out. I love sky blue pearl! Low, but not door buster price. Way worth the $700, you can always try an offer. Go check them out, or I might have to drive to Fresno Saturday {I'm In San Luis Obispo}..............

Look again.....I think the FT legs are after market..........

They are 3 ply mahogany/poplar /mahogany.There may be extra holes in the bass drum if it was converted to a double mount,because the shell mounted cymbal holder on came with single tom kits like the Super Classic.If that's the case,then the tom should be 13".Hard to say without more pics of the top of the bass drum. If it was a Hollywood kit with a double tom mount originally,then it would have come with two 12" toms.The Hollywood kit did NOT come with the shell mounted cymbal holder.I would get more pics.

Take the double tom mount off,and see if the large hole is jagged or not.......if factory,it will be perfectly round...

Ya know, just had a thought. Go down to the FS section and check out Teenage Brain's Thermogloss set. You're both SoCal guys. Maybe you can work out a deal......

i don't think so. Look at the top. They taper to the tip. Ludwig's about the only one that does that. Most are straight, then they round off the end. Not the KB for Ludwig, but I just sold a similar set....

i didnt study the pics a great deal. but, here is one possible explanation. the pre serial hollywood kits had a center double tom mount. the mount was a little different looking than the later ones. but it could have been changed. makes sense so far. the pre serial hollywoods were 22/12/12/16. the 12's had a clip mount. the mount thats on there now could have replaced it. the hollywoods would not have had a bass drum cymbal mount. this could have been added. this just a theory. now, if there are holes for a rail mount, thats a whole other story. plus, there would be a missing tom somewhere if it was a hollywood.

i own a keystone sky blue pearl hollywood kit as does purdie shuffle.
