I did post some pictures of all sides of the snare, they're on page 2.

From Purdie Shuffle

Post photos of the snare drum! Take shots all around the drum, and then flip the drum upside-down and take a shot of the snare side head. That will be enough to get some answers. I'm anxious to hear what Mike may be able to add, info-wise, about your drum. One of the things I really love about this place is; I learn something new about vintage drums every day.John

How do you tell?

Is there a 3-way key attached to the drum? See attached photo.

Unbelieveable find!!! I am very excited for you. Like some others said. Take your time and don't rush into anything your not absolutely sure of as far as the clean up. I can't believe the shape those are in. Are every lug, tension rod etc. there? You are one lucky guy !!!!!

It's hard to say what's cold and what's not. The internet is available to a lot of people now and a small amount of research can get someone rolling. I missed getting a 1969 Gretsch 20,12,14 by one person on CL and the set was being sold for $100.00. I would not feel bad because if the person was able to post to CL then they also had the abillity to look up Gretsch drums and see that most were worth more than $100.00.

This is an amazing score and I agree with everyone that it should be cleaned very carefully. It's very easy to break something that is old and finding a replacement part might be difficult. Please keep us updated.
