Those look they might have been refinished too. Like tdennis said, thermogloss came out in 1970. Is that bass drum a converted floor tom?

Yeah, that's what I thought you were getting at. Look at the diameter compared to the snare too.

Bass drum was 18x14...not a floor tom but a virgin bass. A forum member bought that and the 13...Bonham had Thermogloss keystone maples..They were out before 70...Bonham had them in 68/69 I believe..

Here is my auction where I sold the bass drum

Cool! That other picture must have just been a weird angle. Now I'm not so sure about that snare... Maybe I'll try to get some more info.

yea...It might be, which would be cool..not all things made the catalogs. The earliest i think you see the finish in the catalogs is 70' but the last catalog before that was 67...which they probably printed in 66. Who knows what happened in those 3 years. I have seen a fair amount of Keystone Thermogloss Maple drums. What is the badge number on your snare?

Well... I called the guitar center that had this snare today to get some more info. It's always hard to get anything useful though. The serial on it is 241480 and the interior is white, so it's possibly 1966, more likely 1965. The guy on the phone said he thought somebody had taken the wrap off, but he also said the grommet looked untouched, so that's probably not the case. Also, wouldn't this be mahogany exterior if it was a wrapped drum?

I think seeing it in person is going to be the best way to figure this one out. So, I went ahead and ordered it. I'll get a few days to return it to the local GC if I change my mind once it comes. I'll let you guys know what it looks like when I get it.
