From Apickel

I just started "watching" these out of intrigue. Not gonna bid by any means, then came across this thread. Maybe they'll be of some help? The wraps look to be in good condition.http://www.ebay.com/itm/261018560637?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_500wt_1413

This group never ceases to amaze me. This is exactly what vibes needs. He could even sell the extra parts to re-coup some costs.

Those drums must have been sitting in water for awhile. CryBaby

Good luck with what ever direction you take.

Ohhh Jeeez, I could get a decent start on a set with those. Probably get the wrap for the patch off that floor for the Bass drum. 13 Tom looks ok. There in Florida too. So am I. hmmmm. It is the same wrap. There calling it black sparkle. I will definately put those on my watch list. Wonder if I should message the guy. He might be close to me. My wife will kill me. This would be the second set this year I started with just a ragged out bass drum. Although this Ludwig bass shell is in better shape than my Slingerland was.

Thanks Apickel for bringing this to my attention. If I can get them for $100 or less.

Cool Kick Drum. Hardware on the spur mount would indicate sometime after 64 though. Ludwig had a different script logo mount in 64. Could still be a 64 I guess. Hardware would just be incorrect. Great score either way.

agreed. i said 64 in response to him saying 54 or 64. that mount is a later mount. i tried to zoom in on the badge. looks to be six digits so certainly not a 64.

whats the serial number? we can date it that way..

I was thinking it looked like a six digit number on that badge as well when I zoomed in.

Those numbers on the badge were so small I had to get a mag glass to see them. # 344668 The stamp on the inside says JUN 29 19#4 It has to be a 6. What looks like a 4 may be a 6. The badge dates it to 66. It is hard to make out the last two numbers. The Cymbal mount outline is a oval type. Like on my early 60's floor tom leg mounts. I checked the Lugs with a magnet and they are COS. Definately not nickel.

I spoke with David Fuqua at Forks Drum Closet in Nashville and he is working on getting some of the Galaxy reissue wrap from Ludwig for there shop and if succesful will cut me a piece. So I taped off the wrap and hit the bare spot with a black gloss. I figured if or when I get a patch I can cover it and it is not hurting the drum and not as noticeable. I made gaskets for 3 lugs and a spur mount from a old bike innertube to use on the bare wood. I was able to save the original hoops and actually took it out and performed with it last night with some other vintage Silver sparkle drums . It sounded great and looked good on stage. Unless you knew it was hard to tell the missing wrap section. This is the best I can do for now.
