Sonotube is readily available in most localities and even, to a limited degree at places like Home Depot. It should be easy to source locally.

The tubes I have are 12 diameter and 60" long. I bought them from another upholstery shop that went out of business for nearly nothing.

I rent kits to an audio company here. Miller Pro Audio. I leave a Sonor kit with them but keep the cymbals here. When ever they rent a kit They have to get the cymbals from me. At this time they are requesting a Gretsch Kit which I have but it needs heads...With my new cymbal rack I can just slide the stands out and pick which ever they need. I have a pretty cool cymbal rack too. I have a storage box with all my felts, washers, sleeves etc....... It seems like the felts disappear somewhere, and the washers even more! Dont ever seem to ever have enough cymbal washers! lol I have all kinds of stands, Ludwig, DW, Tama, Sonor, Gibralter and sound percussion. The SP stands are not too expensive, but seem to be pretty heavy duty. The bands are always coming up with this list thay want. I can usually fill the bill or pretty darn close!
Sonotube, like the cardboard tubes you have posted, may be an option. Sonotube is used as a concrete form for creating columns and pillars. I don't know if they make anything small enough to be really reasonable. Currently all my stands are in road cases and assigned to various kits. It makes prepping a rental kind of a pain as I feel the need to pull out every stand and inspect it and generally have to replace missing felts and wing nuts. (by the way, what is everyone doing with those anyway?). Of course, we occasionally need to add or subtract a piece for a particular purpose If I can figure out where to put a rack like this I will build a tube wall as well as it would be much simpler to simply pull out what you need for a particular project.

Ok I finally got all my stands and stuff organized. I had some plastic shelves 18x36. I replaced trhem with steel shelves 24x36. I put 3 14" storage tubes on top of the shelves. Got all my heads, pedals, thrones, tom trees, and luddy atlas stands all put up nice and organized. :) I guess now I have no excuse to put off restoring the interiors of my 9 piece luddy silver sparkle kit! :(

I am OCD just enough to be thrilled to see guys getting organized. That is great!
For my purposes, I would have to be set up with a single tube per stand so that would be a lot of tubes. I may do it though.
By the way, for storing snare drums (and everything else for that matter) I built tons of shelves out of 2x4 vertical support, 1x3 horizontal support and MDF shelving. For the snares I added a lip out of a 2x2 and covered the shelf and lip with I/O capering using a spray adhesive. I then stapled a piece of fabric to the back of the shelf that becomes an easily applied dust cover. The snares go in on their sides and the 2x2 keeps the from rolling out.

I have a bunch of 4" PVC pipe cut into 30" sections (pictured above) for the stands I use or rent. The stands in the big storage tubes are all vintage mostly ludwig. I would like to see a pic of your snare rack. How many snares do you have??

Poppy,
I'll see if I can get to my warehouse to take some photos soon. Most of my snares are out on rental currently. I don't have a huge stock of snares; maybe 20 or so.

I found some pretty cool shelves that hold quite a few snares. The top of a closet works pretty good too....

I bought a 14" keller shell and cut it into 1" rings. I put the rings between each snare and can stack them as high as I want this way.

I found this old computer desk out behind my shop. It was made of tubular steel. I turned it upside down and modified it a little and made a cymbal rack ouf of it. I put rubber hose on the rods/pipes that the cymbals sit on. This is a very heavy rack when full of cymbals!
