Who's going to the CT Drum Show? Last viewed: 7 minutes ago

Mc - That's a Sonor logo alright! If that's mold, or mildew on the calf head, careful cleaning it. You don't want to breath or spread any of that crap around. (If it is mold.)

Strange drum. Photos of the inside please when you strip it, I'd like to see this tuning mechanism.

Too many great drums to list here!

John,

That's not mold. It's the remnants of a hand-painted figure. I'll take some shots of the internal tuning mechanism. Really strange beast.

Mike that's a really cool drum. I didn't even see it. You must have grabbed it pretty quick! Yep would love to see how it works when you have the time.

Dan that Rogers kit was really nice. Not sure on the price though sorry. The RK tom at the end on the cases was nice too. $235 price on the tom. Good thing I didn't have the cash or it might have come home with me. But my main thing was parts for the Rogers kit.

Overall there was a ton of really nice kits, snares, cymbals. Matt's booth was full of all kinds of tasty drums and heads. Super nice guy too. Hope he had a good day.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Mc - The more I look at that drum, the more I wonder if Sonor ever experimented with the Arbiter tuning system? That single screw tuning reminds me of Arbiter drums.

Anybody? I know zilch about Sonor... could be a Sonor/Arbiter hybrid!

Tommy,Sorry I missed you. Joe Montineri showed me the drum you returned to him, and I'm calling him to have a 5x14 shell made. I picked up a strange novelty drum from the center vendor which Joe's booth was facing. This vendor had a lot of strange odds and ends, and this drum just caught my eye (pics below). I don't think it's vintage; maybe some homemade concoction? It's 18" in diameter, calfskin head, with a single-crank internal tuning mechanism like a timpani. The crank pulls all the tension rods down uniformly. No idea what I'm going to use it for, but I can't resist something out of the ordinary for a bargain price. So any ideas? Is that a Sonor logo? Not only is it a 70`s and back Sonor logo, but it`s a 70`s and back Sonor drum. You`ll find them in their percussion cats. They later changed them to rotary timpani drums.

It`s rare with the lever action and came in pairs.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Whoa! Serious? That's actually a factory Sonor drum? Looking at the strange parallelogram tuning mechanism, I assumed it was someone’s experimental project on an old, sliced-up floor tom. Pics below of the internal mechanics. I've got to find a catalog picture of that. Now I think I got a real bargain.

Oh, and it’s W F. Ludwig’s signature on the batter head of that anniversary Top Hat & Cane snare in the picture. Didn’t even look at the price as I was only interested in the Cleveland Dynasonic and Powertone snares on that table. So you were there?

I wasn`t there but can see something scribbled on the head.

This is an early 80`s version of the same drum, it`s rotary tuned now and of course badge changed.

Member calfskin pointed one of these out to me in a drum pile garage sale, I think he knows a thing or two about these lever one`s.
