not sure about oyster black...but i gave 400 for my red sparkle 64, which included shipping. i assume oyster black is probably more popular, so i imagine you'll probably be looking close to 500, maybe more. that is just my guess tho.

Going rate for one with no issues and the badge 2 panels over from the throw-off seems to be around $4000. If the badge is adjacent to the throw off (like Ringo's was) it's worth a whole lot more. $4k seems to be the asking price, not sure how many are actually paying that much but they are still very pricey drums.

One with extra holes sold back in September (ebay) for around $1600. I paid $2k for mine around that same time. No extra holes in mine but the interior white paint has been stripped. If not for that the seller I bought it from said he would have not sold it for less than $4000 (and he has two more of them). I'd been trying to buy one for 20 years and could never quite scrape up enough to buy one as the price kept climbing so I had reached the point where I was almost ready to pay whatever for one.

There's one on ebay right now that's already up to $1600 with several days to go, figure the serious bidding will be in the last few minutes (if the auction makes it to the end).

Are you looking to buy or sell one? This is great news if you're selling, not so much if you want to buy. A lot of them go to Japan and they don't mind paying a lot for a "Ringo" snare.

It is somewhat insane that the color of a thin layer of plastic wrap would matter that much...but it does. There's nothing else special about them as far as being a snare drum...just that a lot of people want one and the overall number made is relatively small. High demand, low supply...you can do the math.

one just sold on reverb for 2200 now lets talk 61,62,63, with the badge 1 lug over FROM THE THROW and the muffler in the same spot as ringo's and it being a 5.5 one sold at $33,000.00

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

well i did figure the color would determine the value but didn't realise this was the color of Ringo's snare. i thought his was called something else.

oh and ps....jazz festivals are very special snares.

mine is my very favorite of all the snares i have.

It's good to know that the market seems to be back up. I used to really follow Oyster Black prices, but got out of it when they dropped in value, back around 2012. I had two really nice Oyster Black Jazz Fests that I couldn't get rid of for $2500, and finally sold them for around $2000 each.

I wish I'd been aware of those...

A friend of mine has at least one of those 5.5" OBP snares with the details just right and he told me he turned down an offer of $30K. Perhaps there is only one buyer willing to spend that much and he shot his wad on the $33K one mentioned above but they are still probably one of the most sought after snare drums.
