Wow... Fish! Done with the kitchen yet?Good to see you on here again! Bill

Hi Bill! Yeah... kind of the lull before the storm. The kitchen floor is getting tiled as I type. Just finished painting everything. Next is counter tops and back splash. Then carpet. I wish it was just the kitchen! lol

I'll be on a bit more since now that the demo is done, my skill level has been reached!

Sorry for the slight hijack, George.

I've sold a few things to people in different countries. Since American vintage drums are scarce over there they seemed to me to be willing to pay a little more since a lot of sellers don't want the hassle of overseas shipping.

Also, the shipping is very expensive, e.g. $300 or more to send a kit. The buyers have told me that when selling to each other over there, the items trade higher than they do here because the extremely high shipping costs get factored in to the value of the item.

Book Value in almost every hobby and anything collectible means, dealer asking price, (or what something might bring at auction with two people bidding it up) not the real price or the real value. It's only a guide to relative value. A starting point compared to other items in the same field. That's it, without a big long explanation.

It's the price that a dealer can sell the item to a highly motivated buyer. Welcome

There's nothing wrong with collecting sales data from CL, eBay, dealers or private sources and using that as an indication of average value.

Best wishes with the project. Making sense out of chaos isn't always easy. LOL

George,

This is a fantastic idea! It is about time the vintage drum market has a BB. I cannot think of a better person to lead the charge. This book will provide instant credibility to the vintage drum market. Kudos to you sir.

Thank You,

Reporting in from the war! The Bluebook project is still on the back burner. Had to get a few other things done first - like overhauling Not So Modern Drummer and the Nashville Drum Show. That only took two years!!! I've put the Blue Book of Drums sample page about the Supraphonic snare drum on the Not So Modern Drummer website if you want to take a look. Please feel free to critique and find errors. There are actually two errors that I just spotted. doh! http://www.notsomoderndrummer.com/category/columns/blue-book-drum-values/
