Non-vintage Slingerland cocktail kit question... Last viewed: 20 hours ago

Loading...

Do any of you Slingy guys out there know or have any information on the Slingerland Jam Session Cocktail Kit? I found that they were made between 2000 and 2003, but that's about it. It's a 16x16 floor tom/kick with 5x10 snare and tom. I bought one a year ago...don't use it...so I'm selling it. Any info or links/catalog pics would be appreciated.

Thanks!

They were sold direct from Gibson on the musicyo.com web store. I believe they were between $250-$350 (I can't remember which). I wanted one really bad. Yours looks like a re-wrap and seems to be missing the hi-hat stand. They were available in metallic silver, nitron yellow, and one other color (metallic blue, maybe?). I believe they have 4-ply mahogony shells. Nothing fancy but cool. I always regretted not getting a set.

I bought a lot of stuff from that website. Great deals on cheapo "made in china" stuff. Some of it was good. Some not. They always sent extra stuff too. I remember buying a Slingerland maple artist snare drum (which I still have) and they shipped a set of cymbals with it. They never charged me and didn't want them back. I sent them back anyway as I had no use for them. I got 2 complete sets (throne, bass pedal, hi-hat, boom stands) of heavy-duty Slingerland Magnamax hardware for $150 each. Logo heads, t-shirts, etc. I miss MusicYo.com.

Let me know when you decide on a price. I've had my eye on cocktail sets for a while. Yours looks pretty sweet.

If you decide to sell that set for $150, consider it sold.

You can buy new ones made of basswood for 250-300 online. Amazon even has them. There are some great ones for about 1200 online, also. Those are the real deal and sound very sweet. The basswood ones sound pretty darn good, though. They remind me of the Mapex V Series sound, which ain't all that bad.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll have to see if I can determine if they are a rewrap or not...but if they are...it's a pretty good job. I also can't be sure if this kit is missing a hi-hat stand since there are no extra brackets to attach one to...unless it was off to the side as its own stand. I have not even been able to find a picture of another Slingerland Jam Session cocktail kit online to compare to.

I'm asking $450 obo. I know you can buy a cheap GP Percussion one for like $250 or a Yamaha Club Jordan kit for like $900...so when I found this one I bought it since it was a Slingy and in between both of those.

I believe DaSwans is correct in notifying us that they are Mahogany shells.

RogerSling...are you saying that you can still buy a new Slingerland cocktail kit like this or just a cocktail kit in general?
