Dave!Couple items here for you! ... first though: WHICH gold/black Fibes badge? There are FOUR of them! I have researched the Fibes badge timeline as well as documented them with pics of each badge and the year/years it was used. I also want to make mention that I STOP when Fibes was sold to CORDER in 1979, as from then on, they weren't the original Fibes. That said, I'll attach pics of the FOUR badges in chronological order that Fibes used from 1965 to 1979. Other item ...... I got a reply from a guy that has the parts you need! Thing is, he was looking for specific parts in trade, which I don't think you have, so ... let me send you a PM and we'll see what we can work out and if he will sell the two items. They are currently on a "donor drum" which is exactly what I was hoping to find for you. Let's me see if he will sell, and I'll get back with you!Tommyp

Tommy ,

Thanks for the offer but I have the #3 and 4 original badges. I'm not really looking to get original decals . I'd rather spend the money on something else...like machine shop services.

There is a member of drumForum.com who goes by the name of "Saladdaze"and he referred me to Kevin Hoisington at Victory Sign and Graphics in Michigan. He used to make Fibes decals that were made from an industrial vinyl with a 3M adhesive backing. At the time, he charged $7.00.

The last time I contacted him, he was moving his shop and mentioned that he didn't get a a lot of calls for the Fibes badges but he would see what he could do. That was about a year ago. I have since emailed and phoned him but never got a response.

I would assume producing a $7.00 drum decal isn't a high priority for him, which I understand.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to help.

I'll focus on getting these evil little swivel nuts made/acquired.

Cheers!

Dave

Dave!

You misunderstood me Dave! I didn't mean decals at all! Those pics are of MY actual badges on some of my Fibes snare drums/toms. I have a few sources for OEM Fibes badges ... not decals. The reason I put those up was to show guys the actual timeline of Fibes badges, as many don't know. If you happened to need an OEM badge, contingent on era/year, I had a couple contacts. Sounds like you're good though! So, are you saying you don't want me to see if that guy will sell those OEM Fibes parts?, and you'll have them made? Personally, in the interest of originality, I would opt for the actual parts... but that's your call! BEST!!!

Interesting design.

I'd bet that the unique outer thread was more a function of not having to completely design a new swivel nut- since the outer nut had to be designed as one never existed before, they chose an od thread that preserved the integrity of the swivel nut (although I bet there are some thin spots!) and would allow the nut to thread on. Probably not cut very deep I'm guessing.

Chucking the nuts in a hardinge, or on a mandrel more likely, and cutting so many TPI at whatever diameter that nut started at. A custom tap would be the way to make the retainer but for a couple parts just single point those too.

Neat design!

Tommy,

Yes, I did understand your offer to be new OEM badges and not reproduction decals.Thank you.

Please tell your sources to offer them to someone else with greater need than mine.

The snare has the original badge on it and my other Fibes drums have been Franken-Fibed that I'm not worried about originality that much.

On a much more productive note. Look what I found when I went through my drum parts box from the 1970's:

The original jam nuts!

I was able to make them work with GENTILE prodding!

The only thing is to wait until the Pearl SO 25 snare wires arrive and I should be set.

Thanks again for your help. It's been a pleasure communicating with you and all on this forum!

Cheers!

Nope DW won't sell them to end user.

Probably worried about counterfeiting.
