Fibes part help Last viewed: 1 second ago

Try buying an older Premier set or Hayman vibrasonic.Metric threads.

But they're not metric either! I tried that when I was working on mine! Fibes used a bizarre thread count, unique to them. One HAD to get these parts from Fibes. There really was and is no other option. With Fibes being long OOB, getting them made, or perhaps locating a donor .. which is what I am looking into for Dave .. is the only recourse I believe.

Sorry ,I was being a bit sarcastic in that those two companies basically did the same thing as Fibes.

Almost impossible to get lug rods for those models.

Somebody mentioned Hayman at Gelb and the guys rolled their eyes saying stay away.

As for the lug inserts ,been there done that too.

Cost about $10 bucks to have the outsides threaded standard threads.

I just went to Orchard ,got the hex nuts that fit the OD of the insert and the machinist did the rest.

I'm using a Fibes MFT on a Cannon that had an SFT,but the inserts and fittings are the same.

These were just machined to work the same way as the SFT butt plate.

All for 4 pieces of metal!

What's a boy to do?

Thanks for your help.

I certainly understand Dave ... I went through it too! You know what they say though: Patience is a virtue! That said ... I sent out two requests on those parts for you. Waiting to hear back. Give it another day or so ... if I have no luck, you are machine shop bound. No issue there as they CAN make what you need. Let's see what happens with the parts!

Thanks Tommy,

I'm not concerned about be able to get the lugs.

Most of this venting is tongue-in-cheek.

I really appreciate your help and everyone else who has replied.

Just out of curiosity,if you are restoring that Fibes ,lot's of them get dented after the years and need to be recovered.

I'm doing a couple now using a chrome Mylar wrap(24x48),but have an extra sheet laying around since I had to buy two as minimum.

Would you be interested @36 bucks(my cost)?

I'm in the bay area if your interested.

FYI ,the dull appearance of the wrap is because it has a layer of plastic to protect it.

Strips off no issues.

Thank you for the offer but the original chrome is in good shape.

If you know of someone who has replicated the gold and black badges without asking a fortune.....

There was someone in the Midwest who made them and once quoted me $7.00 per badge.

However he never returned my calls so I gave up on him.

Dave!

Couple items here for you! ... first though: WHICH gold/black Fibes badge? There are FOUR of them! I have researched the Fibes badge timeline as well as documented them with pics of each badge and the year/years it was used. I also want to make mention that I STOP when Fibes was sold to CORDER in 1979, as from then on, they weren't the original Fibes. That said, I'll attach pics of the FOUR badges in chronological order that Fibes used from 1965 to 1979. Other item ...

... I got a reply from a guy that has the parts you need! Thing is, he was looking for specific parts in trade, which I don't think you have, so ... let me send you a PM and we'll see what we can work out and if he will sell the two items. They are currently on a "donor drum" which is exactly what I was hoping to find for you. Let's me see if he will sell, and I'll get back with you!
