I'm a little confused at this point. Super B's suggested that I offer nothing more than $75.00 for the kit, yet LVDC's showing catalogs listing the price for a same or similar kit at $1,850.00 or more.

Wouldn't the $75.00 offer be somewhat insulting? As I stated previously, the gentleman's asking $500.00. That would be QUITE a drop, although I certainly realize that "asking" prices don't really mean a thing.

Concert tom sets, at least right now and for the last 15 years, have a very tough re-sale value. $500 seems high, although the snare is probably worth $1-150.

$75 would be insulting.

If you like the drums the way they are, offer what you want to pay for them.

If you're thinking of an eventual re-sale...and no matter what, we all eventually try to sell this stuff!, I think $200 is reasonable.

Again, like I stated before, these drums do not have a very high value, I know first hand. I have a Fibes-10,12,16,18,22 in a laquer finish, I paid around $3100 in 1996. I would be lucky to get $1200, even though it has Jasper shells,American made, American parts, and in great condition. Is $75 insulting? Look at the market, concert toms, ok to poor condition, not a very well known drum manufacturer, low selling prices on Ebay. Do your own searches for completed sales on Ebay for Corder drums. I have stated before that I believe that these drums will sound real good, just, do not pay that much for them because you will never get your money back. I know one thing, there is nooooooooooooooooo way I would pay $500 for that kit. For that price you could get a Ludwig Standard. $200? A little high to me, but, if you like the drums, go for it.

corders did offer shells and parts for builders in the late 80s early 90s.

i built a kit in 90 and still play them today, in my opinion, the jasper 6 ply maple shells i used were absolutely the finest at that time, i still have not played a better sounding kit, again, thats my opinion. jim and the rest of the corder family were very helpful to people who built these kits, i just barely got mine finished in 90 when darwin bought them out and stopped selling parts to the public, that was a bummer!

I had a 6 1/2x14 chrome over wood snare just like the middle pic on post number 7,,I owned this drum for 10 years or so, I sold it on ebay 4 years ago it sold for $220.00 It was in VGC so that was a good price most don't sell for that, which makes them great sleeper player drum not a lot of cash but a pro kit in the bargain!

considering that mij kits are going for 150.00 to 250.00,Kents 250.00 to 450.00,The corders should be worth something,there is a pawn/music store that has a kit of Darwins,same shell,same lugs,Pearl mounts,blue gloss,10 12 power toms 14 ft 22,lugs on both sides,tagged at 450.00.they have been sitting there two years.You didn't say whether the kit included hardware and cymbals,if the cymbals and hardware were included and the cymbals were pro quality probably a decent deal for a players kit.If it were me I would not want to pay more than 300.00 bills for the drums,and I would want to make them double headed which would cost a little time and money,but you would end up with a nice fibes/gretschy sounding kit,you could play it a few years and sell it for for about 300.00,but I don't see that as an investment/collectable.

I`d love to check out this kit since it`s in my neck of the woods. Could you pass along the shop these are located please?

I bought a Corder 5 pc. last year from a lady for $350 w/some cymbals and in GREAT shape off of CL for what its worth at this point on this thread.

I had a killer Corders kit back in the '80's. I also talked a friend of mine into a large kit when he was in his Peart-phase. They were excellent drums with Jasper shells. No problems with build quality, sound or price.

Donald Corder & Co. were essentially drum shop owners that took to making drums after they purchased the Fibes tooling, subsequently sold to Sammy Darwin, then later to Tommy Robertson. Ironically, all phases of these drums were well-built, going back to Fibes, and all were made in the USA.

Here`s my Corder setup. 12,13,16, two 22`s. The extra bass was part of a pawn shop find. The snares were bought from feebay. 8x14 COW and 6x14 thin Jasper maple.

Yes, an unfinished basement but I keep dehumidifiers going down there in rainy months.
