Corders Drums Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

Dead thread revival here....

Does anybody have pics of the original "custom clear drum co." drums with interchangable colored panels that go inside the clear acrylic shells?

I talked to Jim Corders son via email about this kit that I almost bought.. He told me that Corder had a patent on the interchangable panels, so that a drummer could easily change the finish of their kit http://www.drumforum.org/index.php?/topic/84719-value-of-vintage-custom-lucite-corders-drum-set/?hl=%2Blucite+%2Bcorder But it seemed to be too much of a basket case.. missing lugs on the resonant sides, and some toms are rogers lugs, some are slingerland..

but at any rate the story is interesting to me.. and I love any history on Corder/Fibes/Darwin drums

Just for common info: I had work done by Corder on a couple of drums (recover, bearing edge, etc.) back in the 80's and early 90's. Flawless work.

I bought hoops and claws from a guy for my fibes bass. Hey were on a corder drum. Corder used the same dies but didn't seem to make them as nicely. These things look like cheap metal with bad/thin chrome plating.

Maybe corder didn't have access to a good chromer

The kit i bought the hoops from is now mine, and it has no hoops since I sold the kit they went on (doh!).. Does anyone have a decent set of 22" hoops on the cheap? Also, I am looking for a jasper shell floortom to match this kit. I got it with three racks and no floor

About those Corder clear acrylic drums- it's nice history but over-priced for what is there. He should be asking 4 bills.

For info. & live schedule:

*Japan Distributor of Vruk DrumMaster pedals
*D'Addario Japan Evans/Promark/Puresound
*Amedia Cymbals Japan

It's the journey not the destination.

Yes he should have at least cleaned them up nice and taken better photos if he wants to ask that much

Heres a Pic of my Mutt Corder kit, Mariosdrums sent me the red Corder snare, and I got the white shells from a guy over at DFO. The floor tom is an acrylic Fibes for the moment, which looks funny but sounds good.

In case anyone is wondering, yes my bassist has a stick bass, mounted to a pearl tom mount on a Tama Titan stand, with a Faux soundboard attached for the real double bass "look"

Problem is, my kit was already rewrapped once, so the badges are long gone. I do have a wood snare with that badge and will need to peel it off somehow

Osakabop, do you know if your wrap is a glitter or a sparkle? I'm pricing both types and will be happy with the cheaper (sparkle) if it ends up looking like your kit
