Timmy here is a good thread on this off of the VDF ! http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=40450
2 floor toms rule.
Congrats, Timmy.....they are beautiful !
I love mine in Champagne too
Timmy's blue sparkles with two down no: In a word; sweet, and even more so with that close match of colors. Here comes thunder! Seems that in the past we've seen that second one can serve as an excellent towel holder to. Yes Sir
On the side bar topic, I'm thinking in Ginger Baker's case that he was playing into a least two venues when he had the silver sparkle Ludwigs - jazz and rock. Thus he could split it or join it whenever as 20,12,14 or double bass kit all in.
Kevin's, I am almost seeing double.
So nice, Timmy! I remember the other week you sent me a similar shot and I was drooling all over myself as the one up, two down is my fave!
My normal preferred sizes are 13/16/18/22x18 bass which is my current gigging set up with a 2006 Ludwig Classic Maple accompanied by the same year 6.5x14 Black Beauty.
Then I have my 13/16/18/24x14 bass 1970s Slingerland I completely restored for my at-home practice kit. Usually play a COB 6.5 8 lug or 5 10 lug Sound King snare with them.
I'm currently building a secondary gigging kit in a 1968 Ludwig Classic in SBP but on the hunt for the elusive 18 floor with the clear interior. Final set up will be 13/16/18/22x14 bass. Shown here with my 10 lug 1967 Supra 5x14.
I'm also on the verge of a huge restoration project for myself. I'm building a Ludwig Club Date "mini" version of my normal sizes, so I'll end up with 12/14/16/20x14 bass for smaller clubs and for my kids to play as well. I currently have all the sorry-looking shells together, but acquiring hardware, etc. Will be a re-wrap, all new bearing edges done and chrome hardware. Taking a bad-shape 16 classic shell and converting it to the 16 club date. I'll be sure to post an entire thread that documents the entire resto.
Have a great day and hope to see a lot of you at the Chicago show!
One day I'll add an 18" to the RK, might be hard to find so probably will have to build a 'matching' drum. One day...
14" and 16" are the most sought after of all the two down configurations.I`ve got two Rogers 16`s and it`s easy to make one sound like a 14",but that`s Rogers versatility in the tuning range.However... it`s impossible to make one of them look like a 14" and there in lies the difference-rarity and estetic appeal...

... and my Ludwigs DO feature a 14X14 and a 16X16, otherwise... my Rogers are the twin 16X16's, unless... I opt to play a 14x14 with them! Here are few pics showing all of that! Oh... did someone say "towel holder" ?
