problem for me is I also play bass, and I have a few guitars for recording demos to try to get song ideas accross.so 8 basses, 4 guitars, a small pa and 7 drum kits...when the arguements start, I don't say ANYTHING.:)
Agreed. I'm a classical percussionist by degree. I just sold my extra set of timpani last year because I got a nicer set. Oh, and I sold my extra extra vibes, too, so I'm down to two. I'm keeping my two xylos, though, and both glockenspiels have their plus sides. Not to mention the 3 concert bass drums, 8 tambourines, "I don't know how many anymore" woodblocks, 3 triangles (I know, I know, I'm slacking in the triangle department...), etc...
But, yes, when you're "into" what you do, the gear acquisition begins and never stops if you're a classical percussionist. And a drummer. And a guitarist. And a bassist. And run a studio. And do live sound. Ugh! Thank goodness I keep all of this stuff out of the house or my wife would throw a fit!
