I don't currently play gigs, but I couldn't resist..........(Sorry in advance.)

Oh, it's an early 70's Gretsch, 5x14 dark walnut 10-lugger. (Have a Natural maple 6x14 as well.)

Powertone (the guy). WOW!! Nice Cleveland!!

well, all of mine get played as I rotate through them depending on my mood.

Currently on the stand, refinished Sonor maple Snare that I did:

Seem to be a 3ply guy. My three most used, and always packed snares are RB 3 ply Gretsch, '58 Pioneer 3ply, and the odd one out, NOB Pioneer....

I don't gig very much; however I do compose and record my own music and my 'go-to' snare is this '39 - '41 Ludwig and Ludwig 'Swing' 14 x 7 snare. It sounds heavenly. I have well over 20 snares and rotate them for practice, but this is the drum that ends up on most of my recordings.

I have two snares and I use both interchangeably. The 1963 Dyna-Sonic I've had since I bought my first kit in 1963 and the 1994 RBS-1 since I acquired and refurbished an RBS-1 kit earlier this year.

1994 RBS-1 - 10"-12"-14"-16"-22" w/matching 6"x14" snare
mid-'90s Pearl free-floating, brass-shelled 5"x14" snare
1963 Rogers COB 7-line Dyna-Sonic 6 1/2"x14" snare

From Purdie Shuffle

Great thread idea! Hope you get a bunch of responses. I'm itching to see which snare drums people post up.John

Thanks John! The idea came to me as I was putting away one of my own workhorses, which I don't treat with kid gloves at all. It just gets lugged around, tossed around, without a second thought... but I love it... I can toss it around as I please, but if anyone else touches it, there will be trouble. It made me wonder what everyone else had as their workhorse, and this thread is the result.

Thanks to all who have posted, I've had a great time looking at all of your awesome snares so far, and judging by the hits this thread has gotten, so have the others. I won't comment on every single post, but WOW, some REALLY nice stuff out there guys! Thanks so much for indulging me (and the other followers of this thread) with this - what a treat!

For those of you who havent posted your workhorse snare, please do D' Drummer
