Show off your gigging kits Last viewed: 12 minutes ago
All very nice kits you fellas have posted!!!
This is my early 70s Ludwig Big Beat in red sparkle. This here is my "go to" kit.. never sounds bad, always looks great (though not a collector's piece), and is the kit that I am most comfortable playing on. In this photo I am using the 12" rack tom but sometimes I swap it out for the 13." I hardly ever play this as a five piece kit, I have in the past, but I always come back to the 1 up / 1 down configuration. And on top off all that, I purchased these lovely ladies for $200.00 from a non-drum playing friend about 7 years ago.
I normally use an acrolite snare.. sometimes if the gig calls for more volume, I'll break out the Pearl Chad Smith snare that I have.

Here's a pic of me behind my first gigging kit (lol).
Seen as people reckon acrolites are not always 1st choice for louder gigs are they ok in a loud gig where all drums are miked up. I have such a gig tonight I will probably use my 64 supraphonic, but have a lovely acro as well. I love both though, I can't post pictures but I just gig with an 80 s pearl dx kit just using one mounted Tom I've had it for 30 years, have never got anything else due to being too skint, that's why I've just collected some nice vintage snares and a couple of vintage rides. But my kit has seen better days and it's great to see all these wonderful kits on here.Keep on Pl

Your Acrolite snare will be fine with a mic on it. The only time I have a problem with volume is if I am playing with a band that plays mostly classic rock n roll stuff. These guys are great but they do like their volume! And on most gigs I do not use any mics.
