I am busy pretty late today so when I get home I am going to take a hoop off one drum and take a picture to show there was no fade and tomorrow evening I will be moving these over to the for sale section. Thanks for all your pm's and help. John

Ok you can't blame me for trying, but seriously, I've seen some nice vintage kits for sale on Ebay going for $1500 - $2000.00 and none were as nice with the back story, original seller, cases, hardware, etc.

Like this one.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ludwig-Silver-Sparkle-Super-Classic-Drum-Set-13-16-20-Collector-Quality-/310651582919?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item485446f9c7

So if you find the right buyer and hold out for your price, I think easily $2500 and maybe closer to $3000.

Ok, I'll up my offer to $150.00 lol

1958 Gretsch Kit
1966 Kent Kit
1969 Ludwig Standard Kit
1970 Rogers Power Tone Kit
1970's Ludwig Vistalite Kit
1994 Yamaha Maple Custom
2010 Yamaha Maple Custom
28 assorted snares (including some real crap)
and 1 really nice K Zildjian Istanbul

Gar, that is why I will not separate the drums from the cymbals. I need to see them go to a good home but if the next owner wants to part them out (sell the cymbals separately) then so be it. mcdrummer your my kind of guy .. I would never fault someone for trying to get something for as reasonable as they can. But I also know when something truly unique comes along a person has to step up to the plate.

I really wish I had the cash to plunk down what it's worth and just pick up the whole thing and keep it in tact. I got my first kit in 1969 coincidentally, and it was a silver sparkle kit, but not a ludwig. It was a cheap made in japan kit, a Dixie, I always wanted a ludwig like yours but never did get one.

Nice kit for sure and I'd love to own it. But a bit of devil's advocate and dose of reality here. Many vintage lovers will often exclaim "worth $2,000 or $3,000-" or "yeah you'll get top dollar for it" ... which is fine, until you try and sell it and find out people will try to lowball you or you get no interest because your kit is priced too high. I'm just saying because I've been there. Just don't set unrealistic expectations and if you want a certain price and won't negotiate be prepared to wait and wait and wait for the money you want.

Tough economy has turned all of us into lowballers. Beauty of a kit though :)

LarryZ I understand what you are saying as I have collected (buy and sell) gas station items for the last 22 years. I do understand the market. I am no hurry to sell these, just looking to get some funds to buy more gas stuff. Typically I NEVER sell anything as I grow attached to things rather quickly so we will see where this goes. I have a network of people I know whom travel across the country going to gas shows whom may be able to help get this to where it needs to go a a fairly reasonable price instead of normal shipping prices.

If you sample the spectrum of drum enthusiasts on this forum, I'm sure you'd find that NO ONE would let this kit (with 602s!!) go for less than 2k. One's desparation for a cash sale is not a factor in determining market value.

If I were to Ebay this kit as a whole, I'd set a buy it now of $2500 with reserve at $2000.

The economy is tough, but, with some patience, you'll find a buyer in that range.
