Congrats! That kit has a lot of potential. Get a Maxwell rail consolette kit and fill in some of those bass drum holes. The tom diamond plate mount will cover up the two extra holes from the Ludwig mount. The heck with trying to match the hoop inlay. Just get some silver sparkle inlay, some fresh semi-gloss black and those hoops will look awesome against that burgundy sparkle.

You're very lucky to still have that matching snare. A lot of people have commented the 4157's sound too dead or boxy, but I love them. I was playing a sibling to your snare the other day and was loving it.

How's the condition of the wrap? Give it the Novus treatment, if its got some scratches.

That's going to be a sweet kit that you won't be afraid to take out of your house. Please keep posting pictures.

Oh yeah... magnificent! Excellent score. Seeing this first thing in the morning is nearly as good as my bagel. (sorry, it is not as good as my coffee)

How much how much?

Even though I'm not a huge jazz fan i don't think I'd wanna 'rock out' too much on these babies.

Very nice. You can fix those up to look great! Nice cymbals. Hang on to those. Wish I had my 50's hi hats back. I screwed up big time letting those go. Didn't really want to. My studio hats. Maybe someone will let me have them back. Tried to offer a refund. I can't sleep good thinking about what I had and just. Darn.

Aren't those K hats? One of them looks to be anyway. Precision has 'merlot' sparkle inlay that would probably work well for you.

Amazing find. How much did they set you back?

Re the muffler/cymbal holder....you could order them however you wanted...so that's just what this person did.......

Gretsch muffies are known to rattle around inside the drum...and the cymbal holder sure didn't hold the cymbal arm too good...so they knew something about Gretsch "problems" before they ordered.......

A forward thinking Jazz player.......as usual......Yes Sir

Please do DETAiILED before/after pics!...

Nice Score!!! Ditto on the "after" pics. I love seeing people rock out on "jazz" gear. I played hardcore on a tiny Gretsch kit in the 80's. It confused people, but nobody ever said it didn't kick! Ska/Rocksteady/Reggae sounds much better on vintage gear IMO, and I'm assuming by your "handle" that you play xxxth generation ska rival w/ a mean/fast punky edge kinda thing. Just an assumption... anyway, enjoy your new babies!!!
