This was certainly one of my bucket list kits and I almost fainted when it popped up on my local Craigslist over the weekend. An early 60's Burgandy Progressive Jazz Kit. My uncle has one of these tucked away in Blue Midnight Pearl and I remember drooling over it as a kid when we would see it at my grandmothers house tucked away in a closet. This one does have some issues but I love her all the same! Here are the good the bad and the just plain weird.
The good: Came with a really cool set of vintage Zildjian A's, Chrome is cleaning up nicely from all the time in the desert and there a bunch of cool little extras that came with it that I can sell to offset the cost.
The bad: I have been diamond plated yet again!!!! Ludwig tom mount on 12 inch tom, diamond plate mount (over the badge hole no less) on kick drum and a ludwig strainer if place of the Micro-sensitive. (only one extra hole for the strainer luckily) incorrect floor tom legs, missing 8 kick drum tension rods for the front hoop, diamond plate, original tom mount holder
The weird: No tone control or cymbal holder on kick drum which I have not seen before. It was never even drilled for it.
Can't wait to get this one rocking again!!!
Anyway here are some picks for ya!
