This was the last deal that I have pictures of:
I paid $13.00 for the drum and $14.00 for S/H! lol! It's an unknown brand of toy/youth/juvenille/beginner drum from probably sometime in the 1910's or 20's. Note how the tin body was treated to look as if it were some kind of pearl finish! The T-rods on this are very poorly designed and most of the "nubs" that prevent the collet from slipping have worn off and, thusly, the collets have slipped -which means the T-rods bottom out before proper tension can be achieved. Anyway, it's a cool little drum and in really good shape. I had to make some parts for the strainer mechanism, but it works and plays....just like you might expect! HA! (cool-looking though, huh?) ;)
I can't seem to post pics, but 8 days ago, our guitar player found me a 1960 pre serial # chrome over brass Super Ludwig 400 for $10!
I got three pretty good deals last year.
Ludwig Standard with a personal history for $200.00 complete with vintage cymbals (K's A's and Paiste)
1966 Blue Ludwig kit at a yard sale. $60.00.
1968 (?) Slingerland (still un restored) off Craigslist $25.00
This year I got a nice (filthy, but nice) MIJ Royal Star kit for $10.00 from Craigslist. It's nearly finished and I'll post pix when it's ready.
For much better pix and the information on them, check my website in my sig.
Yeah, it's not just the last one. Guess I'm bragging. Oh well. ;)
Wow! Some of these deals are really incredible. I mean, you can't buy a case of (good) beer for less than what you can buy a set of drums for?!?!?!?
I mean, yeah, sometimes a case of beer can be fun, but a set of drums is funner! Car Driving2

And the morning after is much less fuzzy.
And you don't have to make anything up too tell you're wife.
And you have what you spent your bucks on sitting in front of you! (this could go either way, but let's not go there)
I really wish I would have had all that wisdom in my youth! Laughing H
i don't have any pics..
but i got a 60's champaine sparkle superclassic 13/16/22 for $20..
needed some TLC..but man was it worth it.
x-mas3
I picked up this "jellybean" kit back in April for $775. The sizes are 26/16/14 and they had clear interiors. The 14" was a 6-ply so i sold it for $50. I added a 3-ply 14 and 18 to complete a bonham kit. I also picked up a full set of Paiste Giant Beat Reissues with an extra 18" crash for $650. I sold all of my mismatched sabian and paiste cymbals along with the extra 18" and managed to come out a little ahead. I love it when stuff doesn't really "cost" you anything :)
Pictures or you aren't telling the truth hahahah. Some great deals so far!!!
