Tell me what you would do........please read.

Hey drumhack....I think you just revealed your true self there.....ouch. So if you lived in Florida you would be the guy selling plywood for $100 a sheet because a storm is coming right????

Anyway...when I worked with this guy, we hung out and were fairly good friends but that was 13 years ago and seeing that I moved 850 miles away we haven't kept in contact. If he did do the unthinkable like you said you would....again...(ouch).....I would just say he can keep them and move on and leave it alone.

Well, I thought I made it fairly clear actually.....I was just asking if you were in the position of the guy who has them....what would you do?? I know that what you guys say isn't going to make a bit of difference, I just wanted to know what you guys would do in this situation.....that was it.

I was just lending you a very plausible point of view, as requested. I didn't read anywhere where you guys were good friends. Your OP said you were co-workers which could mean casual acquaintances at best.

Also, I would try to get two hundred a sheet first, then drop it down to a hundred if I had to.........

have a wonderful evening

Hey Drumhack......I tried, I really did, I tried to read through all your posts but I only got through three pages before I realized you had nothing to say that had legitimate value to this site or the posts put on this board. You are the one that was giving me a hard time about the Yamaha brackets I was looking for. Why is it that every forum board has to have a hand full of people like you that only have one motivation....to annoy people. This is the last reply I will have to anything you have to say, I have better things to do with my time. As for all the other members that have been understanding and supportive in regards to this thread....I appreciate your words.

I'm curious about something. You asked for insight and the members gave it. Some were based on sentimentality and some were based on friendship. Drumhack gave you a very real profit scenario and you shot him down. Why?

His insight was legit and a very real possibility. We don't know this current owner of the kit and this outcome actually makes for a very good business move. If a person is profit driven, then this move is expected.

We've all come across people who are driven by the Mighty Dollar. We shouldn't be shocked when we see another one. You have it within your power to choose to do business with them or not.

I agree with you on this one Michael. It is known that I am not a fan of Drumhack on MOST of what garbage he spews out on the forum, you are right. He did offer a legitimite scenario and this is a possiblity of the way things could go down. But if the original poster knows the kind of person the current owner of the kit is, this scenario could be unlikely. Ultimately we on the forum do not know what the person is like, so yes this could be a possible reaction to "hey will you sell me my old kit back?"

Now, reading some of the other posts of "what would you do if you were him?" I can tell that a good percentage of the members on the forum here are not driven by huge profit and are reasonably ethical just by the comments they left on the subject.

BTW...Drumhack...money isn't everything....it sure is nice....but it sure isn't everything. I think MOST people would hear the story and work with the guy and not try to screw him over for the most he could get for the kit as you stated you would.

Say, how much you want for that Rogers kit that was your dad's? ;)

I'm a sentimental soul, and that story moved me! You deserve those drums back. Firstly, because you only sold them due to circumstances at the time, and for the reasons you mention in your story.

Secondly, I believe drums are for playing, not for a gui*arist to have lurking around in his basement.

I think if you tell him the story, he'll understand.

I agree with mcjnic and dude. No reason to whack somebody when you ask an opinion, ya take what you get. The use of the advice is your decision... The story about my Ludwig Standard's is very similar to yours, except I wanted the kit back for me. I found the fellow I sold the kit to in '75, and found out the drums were living in a closet since around 1980. I didn't say a word as to why. I sort of back door negotiated the deal through his brother. The guy wasn't hurting for bucks, but cash always talks, and the guy thought it was neat that I wanted the kit back. But it was his idea that it was neat, I thought it was as well, but didn't say a word about that until I was leaving with them loaded in my truck. Good luck! Hope it works.
