Wow a new calf like head from Evans, though I can't watch it all yet as I've been busy studying songs you tube for a new rock band I've joined ( my credit might run out) ironic for me as just recently I'd been trying out most of the calf like heads but I've decided quite happily to use standard 1 ply batters on my jazz snares - I think they are cutting through the big horn section better. Definately it's not a closed book though, and those look nice.
Just a mention, I can't find any info on them. I suppose they haven't come out yet. Maybe not available in UK. So VDF makes you privy to great things.:D

Here in America (the greatest country in the history of everything) only the bass drum heads are now available. Tom and snare batters are due out in June/July. Hopefully they'll drop on the Fourth of July, proving again that America is the greatest place to live on the planet or any other planet ever!

The snare head sounded good but I want to hear the toms and bass!
I just added an Evans 56 tuning key to my collection...I now know the origin of it!!
Cheers
I have a 16" Evans 56 bass head and they are most comparable to Remo Fibersykn.
Buyer beware on the Evans Calftone heads. I recently purchased a 15" head to use on my old brass Ludwig Concert Dance 4x15 snare. I used brushes and sticks on the head and after the second time using it, the top ply of the head started to bubble up.
This photo is after using the head 4 times. I don't think I'll be buying another Calftone.

Contact Evans and let them know what happened. I guarantee they will send you a new one at no charge. I have been using a 14" on one of my snares with no issues. It could possibly be a fluke.

That's exactly what happens with Remo's fiberskyn.
