Just realised. THE MOST EXPENSIVE KIT EVER SOLD.............. and it's a Premier! Get on that!
I agree Premier tops the bill even for Ringo if you ever see it. Ludwig rogers always painted their shells to hide poor workman ship.

I don't know if it was "poor workmanship" per se, instead perhaps to hide grain inconsistencies, which have no effect on sound or build quality.

I would agree with that. And for some reason, I really like the interior colours, at least of Gretsch, Ludwig and Rogers, not the granitone, but the silver, [off]white and grey. For some reason I like them better than clear interiors...probably the way they contrast/enhance whatever exterior finish was used.

"The Most Expensive Drumset Ever Sold", by definition, is not the same thing as "The Drumset Sold For The Highest Price" !
It's all a 'play on words' in a 'bought and paid for' advertisement hyping an auction company.
Not to mention the fact that an item "sold at auction" is not necessarily an item sold at auction that was actually paid for by the winning bidder !
Soap Box
I`m not sure if I understand what you are saying...This is in The Guinness Book of World Records and it states that the winning bidder did pay for it...
Cheers
One might think £139,650 is a lot to spend for a Keith Moon kit, but can you image what one of Pete Townshend's guitars from the same period would go for at Christies? I think deep-pocketed rock stars shell out a lot more for classic guitars than they do for drums. As cool as it would be to own (and play) one of Moon's original kits, I had to stop my call-in bidding to Christie's when the price hit £110,00 :D
