I Agree with Chromeo, get a nice supra, you can't go wrong. I never got into the matching snare obsession, it limits what you are willing to use with a particular kit, unless it's just for show or re-sale.
Blue Pearl is not Blue Pearl Last viewed: 2 minutes ago
I have 1 or 2 shares that I really like and I move them between my sets when I play, but when I set them up when I'm not playing, I think it looks cool if they all match. Nerdy, I guess.

Definitely not "Nerdy"! My girlfriend gives me grief when I don't have matching snare drums for my kits. She did make an exception for my 1971 Slingerland Modern Solo 2R, which is wrapped in original Sparkling Purple Pearl. Finding a matching snare drum is virtually impossible, so I settled for a period correct COB Sound King snare drum. It's the snare the kit was cataloged with and she's OK with that!

Mark, I have some of that sparkling blue wrap, if you ever think about making a snare I would be happy to send it to you.
Thank you!

Hey Jeff!
I got all excited about this, until I noticed you said "blue" instead of "purple"! Newer Delmar Purple Glitter is lighter than my wrap. I'll have to be happy with the COB Sound King snare drum!

No problem, Jeff!
There is a collector by the name of Frank Sarro, who has a Slingerland Artist in Sparkling Purple Pearl. I was in contact with him some months back, but he's not letting go of any of his drums! Here's a link to some of them... http://vintagedrumguide.com/other_collection_frank_s.html

For me, the difference is between want and need. I don't need it, I but I want it.
Julia,
You're starting to sound like the rest of us... how many drums do we really "need", but we certainly want them. I was going to suggest finding a suitable snare shell in trashed wrap or bare wood that you could rewrap in Blue Oyster, but I see that Precision has discontinued their Blue Oyster Pearl, and JamminSams doesn't carry it at all. I'm with you... if you're going to have a wood shell snare with a kit, it should having a matching wrap. Best of luck with your quest, and if anyone here spots a candidate, I'm sure it will be brought to your attention. Post pics of any summer garage sale acquisitions! You seem to stumble upon some great stuff.
