From Creighton

Only snare side heads I use as well. Bought the last one the local music store had. Stated no plans to reorder. $17.00 told the guy I needed 5 more and Wallyworld had them at $14. Response was buy them there then. Guess I will have to.Creighton

The problem is Walmart et al can not only bulk buy, but then also purposely sell at a loss just so as to grab you in to buying something else. Its what they do. Its one big physiological magic trick. But still the shop keeper could of still tried to cut you a deal. Even half way.

Walmart as a company isn't doing well from what I read. Hence the foray into drums I guess. Question: would your walmart drums have that icky hot dog/popcorn/Slurpee smell to them? You know, that scent noticable when you enter their store?

Why all the hate for Wal-Mart? I understand they employ a lot of good folks with decent pay and benefits.

I think it's cool that they are selling drum equipment.

I think we may both catch a bit of flack from this but, I certainly agree with you. Walmart may not be a "mom and pop's" music store for sure. I always try to buy from locally owned music shops BUT, like you say, Walmart employs a lot of common working class people. As a matter of fact, it ranks third, only behind The U.S. Department of Defence and The People's Liberation Army of China! Okay, if your local shop can supply you with the goods, go with the local merchants but,...

hey, at least in a democracy such as the U.S.A. and Canada, we have a choice! Nothing wrong with free enterprise! Way to go johnny for expressing an honest opinion!!!

You must mean 8 lug 22" bass drums, although I believe Gretsch offered 8 luggers back in the day.

For the most part, I don't have the numbers, Walmart pays low enough wages that some of their employees have to subsidize their pay with Federal food assistance. That money is in part funded by tax revenues.

Walmart shareholders on the other hand generally don't require the use of Federal food assistance, but do sometimes take part in corporate welfare :D

I personally don't have any problems taking part in shopping Walmart as I'm paying taxes and helping those who 'need' food stamps. Might as well take advantage of those low prices! :)

Found it!!
