I actually think it was. I'm not sure of the wheel cart. But the internal mic system is factory.

Yes they came that way and there is a picture of Max Roach playing one which somebody might be able to come up with.

All of the jazz greats were seen playing Hollywood kits at various times on European tours.

And we prefer the term "innovative" to "oddball".

Meazzi tried a lot of innovations including the built in mic system (there is a pic of the controls on p71 of Italian Vintage Drums and Cymbals by Luca Luciano). In addition to the mic system, they had nesting kits where the shells were latched in the middle, and tunable "tympany" floor toms to name but a few.

I was still composing my post and you found the picture. Thanks.

The cart system aided in getting the drums on and off the stage between acts without the fuss of getting all the cymbal stands and toms back in just the right place. Place the hi hat stand and you are good to go.

A lot of those Meazzi designs were out there! I got to play on a Hollywood President kit every week at my teachers house as a kid and it fascinated me to no end. Meazzi also produced drums under the name Wooding and HiPercussion and the pic I threw up was just to illustrate another innovative design from Meazzi. Those crazy italians!

The roll-away drum sets of the big band era and the Meazzi roll-away drum sets from the 60's would be great for the current trend of half the bands in a city each playing a "show" at the same venue on the same night.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
