Anyone interested in a Fibes kit? Last viewed: 16 hours ago

Hi folks.

I just joined this forum to talk about an old Fibes kit I have. I'm curious what year it's from and if anyone is interested in buying it. I still play it from time to time, but I imagine there's a better home for it where it could be spruced up and used more often.

I'm going to snap a couple photos, but in the meantime are there specific photos or info anyone might need to help identify the kit?

Thanks in advance.

Pictures of the badge would help identify the kit.

Are they fiberglass shells? Too many questions that can be answered with pictures. I have a 70's fiberglass kit and love it.

Where are you located, how much do you want for the drums?

Thank you!

This is an attempt to add photos. They are fiberglass, yes. I live in Delaware.

The two mounted toms were spray-painted gray (Not me!) but it's a very thin layer that could easily be removed. I dragged my fingernail across it and it was coming off. I imagine there's some sort of paint removal wheel that can be attached to a drill to speed up the process.

Bkord123!

There were FOUR different Fibes badges spanning the course of their manufacture before being SOLD to Corder in 1979. With that said, you have the 2nd generation Fibes badge here!, which is neat as these drums are PRE CFMartin, and as such were pretty much hand built by Bob Grauso and John Morena. Anyway... your drums are PRE 1973, so I would say around approx. 1970 or so. The 1st generation Fibes badge was 1966/67 to around 1970. As to what they are worth...

... I will leave that to those that have their finger firmly on that pulse! Would be GREAT to see what these would look like cleaned up/devoid of that spray paint. Do you have sizes?

Is that a chrome or stainless steel wrap under that paint?

Thank you!

Thank you for the info! Re. the outer shell, I think it's chrome? How would I know for sure?

You could remove a lug and see whats under it, chrome or more silver spray paint. If its spray paint then that would be a good place to try and remove the paint and see.

Thank you!

Oh ok. I think I misunderstood. The paint was just sprayed over the top. My brother did that when he was in college. Go figure. He didn't remove anything to paint them and apparently only did one coat since it comes off fairly easy. I'm wondering what the best tool would be to remove it.
