Drum ID help: Leedy or ??

Loading...

Picked this up last week. Strainer and clips make me think Leedy? but with tube lugs and vent over butt plate? 1930's?

Nickel over brass hoops

No engraving on hoops or strainer. No badge.

1 ply shell with re-rings (that will need some work)

Muffler is not centered which leads me to believe it was added later.

Grommet in vent hole is half broken off... looks almost like bakelight, glued in.

Gold sparkle is super fine.. lots of cracks, but still cool enough to keep intact.

Decal on side reads- Bill's Drums Unlimited. 218 S Wabash, Chicago

Any help on identification and dating appreciated!!

That 3pt throw off is either Slingerland or if marked on the back "Made In England" then Carlton. That would be my guess. Can you check the back of the throw off?

Nothing on the back of strainer... I'll post a close up pic. I first thought Slingy, but no badge?

Strainer front and back... no stamps, no letters on the knurled knobs.

Slingerland era? with tube lugs and no badge? Just curious.

If there were no markings on the back then it's American made.

Vintagemore2000, Why isn't it a Slingerland and is a Leedy? Did you say that because of the grommet placement? Just curious and learning. I thought the Slingerland era Leedy 3pt had the diamond cut out in it. This drum seems earlier than that with those tube lugs. No?

From nashdrum

Thank you for the information.

Let me recant on my first observation. the tone control is leedy, Gary N is corret about the 3 point for slingerland era it should have a diamond on the 3 point. I;ve seen this drum before I'm stumped ? Sorry fellas.
