Isn't the slogan for this site "Ask a question Get an Answer"?

And, sometimes you will also get an opinion.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I've played the drums over 30 years, but it wasn't until I found a early sixties SS drum set at a yard sale a couple of years ago that I fell in love with vintage drums.....I came here by accident looking for info on my new vintage set and everyone was so very helpful...I received great cleaning and restoring advice as well as resale values.....I greatly appreciated the help and have been a daily viewer of this forum ever since.....Someday I hope to have the knowledge that most here have and will gladly pass on what I have learned......I can understand the frustration of people just stopping in to get a price, but I personally think there is no harm....especially since they are guided correctly in the preservation of vintage drums.....and frankly...I love to see the pics

just my opinion no disrespect intended

I belong to a generation when for a report at school you had to actually take the bus go to the library, do the research, handmade graphics or drawings, etc, etc. When for understanding what the lyrics of a song meant you had to actually "learn" the language (Thanks god for the music because now I can write and speak English) Maybe Im just old and envious of how easy is for the newer generations...

I think we're missing something here – with the advent of instant information, these amazing drums can come to the surface and be respected. By that I mean, a person who finds old cool drums can get them into the hands of someone who cares, rather than just sell them to the 12 year old down the street who might cover that ugly old orange ludwig kit with fake fur or something.

These drums now have more of a chance at salvation! Who cares if the person who found them profits a little bit? I wouldn't know what I know if it weren't for the internet and sites like these – vintage collectors (of any kind) aren't always the friendliest bunch of people, especially to newbies.

Looks like someone attempted removal of the badges and were unsuccessful.

Hello. Can anyone help in identifying this kit please? I suspect it's early 70's but I'm unsure of the exact model? Any idea of the value? Just the 5 drums as pictured. Thanks. :-)

I'm guessing from the pictures it's 22, 12, 13, 14 16 but they may be bigger sizes. Hard to tell from pictures alone.

Actually clear 3 ply interior Ludwigs were available through 1976 so they could be as late as that, and I would guess somewhere in that 73-76 area.

These are great drums and look to be complete and in good condition. While they are desirable to play, butcher block (formica) finishes just never attract the top collector value that other finishes from the same era do.

That said, I would put this kit at the 750-1000 range. It is a very soft market for vintage drums so patience is required to attain good prices.

Good luck to you.

Bingo!

If we aren't here to offer others help, we shouldn't expect the help of others when we need it. Karma.

Also, if you have a problem with not wanting to help out someone, even if they are only here for an honest appraisal, just don't reply. You are not required to help if you don't want to. There are plenty of others here who will. That's what makes this a great place and what makes the fraternity of drummers unique.

The pointy blue/olive badges used to get caught while cleaning the drums and bent easily, hence were replaced by the later rounded corner version.
