You have been given fact after facts, It is only your dream filled opinion nothing else. The British invasion was headed by the Beatles. They influenced RocknRoll. from the top to the bottom. The Guitar company RICKENBACKER Which the Beatles saved from going out of business which they were about to from low sales numbers . The Beach Boys also used Rickenbacker guitars, call this number to Rickenbacker which groups song greeted you? 714-545-5574. I bet you want call.
Poll, which drummer inspired you to play drums ringo starr or dennis wilson ? Last viewed: 18 minutes ago
Peter Criss got me inspired to play drums. The easy rhythms were easy to emulate for a beginner, and they were popular at the time. I later became a keen listener to Ringo and Dennis. The Beach Boys were cool, but come on! The Beatles are arguably the best rock group ever. I love the Stones more, they keep going and sell out huge venues, but I have to admit that the Beatles were the better group. Zep, U2, and, I guess, the Who were absolutely huge. I'm always wondering when another group will surpass that popularity, and U2 did it. I guess that GNR achieved that popularity. But for the length of time at that level, I'd have to say The Stones and U2 remain huge draws. I'm getting old though, but I feel young.
I jus dont buy into hype, the beatles had some decent tunes but not with the infectious timeless quality of the beach boys....but anyone who thinks the beatles woulda been anything without george martin has no clue bout music; just look at the crap that makes it on the charts these days, without a producer polishing turds the units wouldnt be sellin,,,,marketing etc.
And out comes the "music is crap these days" card. LOL

Ummm....really?! I know it is your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it, but I think the vast majority of the rest of the western world would say you could not possibly have phrased that more backwards if you tried. "Infectious timeless quality" pretty much defines the Beatles. Certainly George Martin played a key role but I am quite certain he would tell you the he owes his success to the Beatles and not the other way around. As bands go the Beatles pretty much kicked serious butt live due to their relentless club/pub days. They played with conviction, heart, swagger, attitude, and mischievous fun. I have never seen a Beach Boys live performance that ever came close to that. Frankly, I never found them more engaging live than any other local band only perhaps with better harmonies.
Much as I hate to admit it, this thread is a guilty pleasure for me. It's shocking and somewhat comical to see the hills people are willing to climb up and die on.

Wow,we're well into petulant child terratory now, aren't we.I'm not saying the BB's harmonies were the ever the best, but, very good, based on existing barber shop quartet harmony structure. The Beatles harmonies are studied at Berkley,Julliard and many prestigious music colleges and conservatories. The Beatles wrote an all new playbook, that's still being used and studied today.
As far as being clueless about music, you seem to be fitting that catagory quite nicely.Do I have to explain to you again, that George Martin,NEVER,produced ANY pop or rock music......before the Beatles, yet again,do I need to explain that? The true facts are just a few mouse clicks away. Are you just afraid of what you'll find,or do you already know. That can be the reason you just continue to make up your own joyously comedic..... "facts".
It seems, that real, and verifiable factual information, is kind of like kryptonite to you.
You continue to try to support a strawman argument with conjucture, and factless inuendo. That dosen't make for a good argument,it makes for....... entertaining internet comedy.I just thank the powers that be, that you don't work in a missle silo. You need someHelp2

Saying the beatles are the best band ever is the same as saying rolling stone is the best music mag, mtv is the best music channel and mcdonalds is the best burgers....hype dictates what masses buy into,,,most drummers think bonham and peart were the best, but I say hal blaine...dennis might not have been technical but he was the most charasmatic and was the ultimate rock star, everybody wanted to be him and chicks wanted to do him, he was the epitome of cool// that was factual and no one was ever that cool, and he was as solid of a drummer there ever was, just not technical.
Oh and by the way.....Ringo 37,Dennis Wilson,2 ,and I still believe you found a way to vote twice.:D

I agree 100% with your feelings towards the Beatles. I have been on record on this site dubbing them the original boy band, many times. The issue is though, regardless whether they were the first, of many, cookie-cutter music-biz acts, they sold a boatload of records and millions and millions of people worship them, still to this day. Therefore, they are very influential, and if you asked every person on this planet who Dennis Wilson was, you would be lucky to get 1 out of 10. If you asked them who Ringo Starr was, you would definitely get 2 or 3 out of ten. Statuscymbal can check my stats here........
Another thing I have learned on this site. You will never convince anyone about anything negative about the Beatles. Show them the pictures of the 10 year old girls crying when they were singing, and it will be answered as their music being sooooo deep. Recite some of their masterful lyrics like "she loves you yeah yeah yeah, does she love you yeah yeah yeah, are you sure she loves you yeah yeah yeah, does she still love you? yeah yeah yeah, I think she may love you yeah yeah yeah, and those will be answered with simplicity is the highest form of art.
I am saying I have travelled your road and the membership here are Beatles fanatics and you can't win this argument on VDF. With the Beatle worship that exists in general, you would have a hard time winning the argument on Pearl or any other rock based site because somehow, liking the Beatles is seen as being "vintage-cool" or something. I don't get it, but I respect it all the same. Those tambourine bangin', soup-bowl-haircut-sportin', yellow-submarine lyric writin' Brits have garnered a following that rivals any public figure in the history or recorded history.
New to the Forum and this is my first post. Growing up in South Philadelphia as a little guy, most of the teenagers were listening to Motown. Whenever I would walk to the corner store with Mom or Dad, I heard a great backbeat and a very passionate bass player leading the music. I was influenced by Benny Benjamin, Uriel Jones, Richard Allen and percussionist Jack Ashford. I recall the big kids practiced dance moves on the sidewalk.

I ,in contrast to you, think in a completely manner, when it concerns the Beatles songs and lyrics. While I'll conseed that "She Loves You" is far from a lyrical nor musical pinacle of musical art,it's also not nearly a fair example of their whole body of work..But their later albums, starting with Help....are.Skip ahead to White album, and Sergeant Pepper, and they are undeniably becoming master pieces.Their chords, chord structure, and vocal harmonies and instrumentation, are a staple and a lesson in how it's done.
The whole "boy Band" think was pretty musch coming to a close,by the end of 65.BTW,wasn't Elvis a boy band of one.I seem to recall screaming girls at his shows as well.
I never understood the hysterical 10 year old girl thing either, but it continues to this day with other boy band acts like New Direction",who unlike the Beatles, don't write nor play their own instruments .....live .And the Beatles did it without monitors,or click tracks.Give some credit, where credit is due.........Yeah,Yeah Yeah ....or not.:D
