Wow that is a beauty!!! Good luck. I think it will top 1K. They don't, and never will make em like that again. That's one of the many reasons I adore the Rogers sets I am lucky enough to own. I have a Powertone in the exact same condition, in original box, never played. No key though...Champagne Sparkle. I think its worth hanging onto for a while. SC

Lucky Man!! Post a pic!!

Yeah missed opportunity of a lifetime for me :( Doh I should have just bought it before the seller removed the BIN option. Anyway I am still winning for now.

I think at a certain point though it's just showing off how deep my pockets are. If I needed to do that I would just post pics of all my kits. I just hope whoever wins it will really appreciate it for what it is. I would hate to see it go to someone just to flip the thing.

If I win it I will buy a cherry Rogers kit to match.

Thanks guys! To be fair if I win the drum I will move some others out of my collection. Easily worth it of course. It would fit with the direction I am going in only keeping some really nice drums around...and of course maybe one or two kits to take to gigs where drums might walk off or say be rained on like the other night :(

According to my 1967 Canadian price list, that snare cost $139.75 new in that year and that was a good chunk of change at that time. Will be interesting to see where it tops off.

In 1967, $139 could have been a week's salary for an average working-class guy. Is this NOS Powertone worth a week's salary now?... HeII Yes, because this could be the last chance to own a new Powertone. In 1967 you could hesitate on the purchase of a new Powertone because you could always buy one the next year or the year after that. This is a once in a lifetime shot.

Good Luck Manny!

Very nice drum. I don't know that it is a once in a lifetime shot. I currently have two NOS Rogers, and had another that I passed along. The one I passed along was the entire WMP Powertone snare kit that Rogers offered (as pictured in the catalogue)including a plush lined case, sticks, stand and even the Rogers instruction drum book. I also remember seeing at least another one or two offered in the box.

Oh yes, and then there is the Wildwood kit an acquaintance found still wrapped in plastic and in the boxes. Never touched!

They are definitely out there. You just never know when one will be uncovered.

Good luck on the auction. Hope the bids stay reasonable on this one.

That's exactly what I am trying to say. Heraldo, there might be a green sparkle Powertone new in the box right around the corner from you in Buenos Aires! You never know.

I hope you find one!
