My dad just sent this picture of his band he had when he was 16 . Don Baird and the Starlighters was the band and he is the trumpet player . He went on to play with Les Brown and Stan Kenton for a while .The clarinet player Brad Bauder played sax as well and ended up playing sax with quite a few people including another Phoenix guy , the one and only Duane Eddy . I thought it was a cool vintage shot and thought some might dig it . LOVING the Leedy drums too !!!!!!
A pic from my dad's band in August 1952 Phoenix AZ .
That's great. Thanks for sharing. I love old photos.
That's a way cool picture!! He must have been a mean horn player to hang with those guys. Does he still play?

He does a bit but not often . He still kills it though . He played drums when he was younger and switched to trumpet soon after . He said his set was a used Rogers with tacked heads . He was very supportive of my when I started playing at 7 . He turned me onto Krupa , Buddy Rich , And Shelly Mann before I even started playing .
That's a Leedy , and not Leedy & Ludwig set . Cool dad cool pic !
