Never thought I'd actually find this - let alone get it... but here it is :) A 1971 perfect specimen - as you can see, it is literally flawless, except perhaps the heads. And it came at $60, which is astonishing these days. Of course, it took another $100 to bring here, but what the hell... :)

More pics. The more I look at it, the more I think 'where the hell was that for 40+ years?'

I think some of us keep records of Ludwig drums - dates and serials and so on. The serial no. on the badge is 50785 and the date on the paper tag is 8/23/1971.

+1 What Mike said! I don't recall who I sold mine to, (may have been Mike Layton!) but I can tell you that those aluminum standards are every bit as solid, great sounding and reliable as any of the Acrolites from the same period. You did great! You're really going to enjoy that snare. Good example too, nice, clean, original condition drum.

I had the chrome model with my Blue Mist sparkle Standards ,which I still kick myself for selling,to this day.

Thats a great score and a great sounding drum.
