Maybe the snare was part of a music store rental program? Or something along those lines. If there's no school system markings that would be my guess.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Hmmm...interesting thought. Like the store got a bunch and numbered em, then rented them out and this one was purchased? Sounds feasible. This was a one owner drum though, so it would have to have been rent to own or something.

Hi!

I don't know if its due a sort of perspective, but the left "2" looks like it was engraved too close to the grommet, so, it could have been done before the badge was attached with the grommet to the vent hole.

In that case the "mysterious 2 2" become even more fascinating to discover!!!

If not, Glenn theory sound pretty logical to me Clapping Happy2

Best regards and enjoy... one of my "all-time favorite" snares!

Very interesting observation. I feel you have a point! Now, why in the world would they do that (if it is infact factory)?

I think those early acros had more than their share of wax markings on the inside since they were still kinda makin' them by hand. You've definitely got a nice one. Don't think a magnet's gonna tell you much about the lugs; either pot metal, brass, or aluminum....marko

Well guys, I just found a drum I've been searching for literally for 5 years...(WFL 16x16 floor in WMP) so I'm going to put this snare kit on the auction block to pay for it (since playing this drum would not be something I'd do enough to justly holding onto it over my 67 Acro--and I'll play the WFL kit A LOT). I just have to get it!

Let me know if you have interest...unfortunately I'll be using evil-bay most likely. Message me if interested! Thanks for the chat on this though! Always interesting stuff to talk about! I'll be showing off my WMP kit soon no doubt!
