Orange Peel Acro Question Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

Just picked this drum up. It's in amazing all original shape. My question has to do with the badge. It's a pre serial badge but it has a "22" engraved on it and then another "2" and "2" to either side of the vent hole. Check the pics! Is this a factory thing? Done at a school possibly? What does it mean?

Thanks! Im curious about the numbers though. It was definitely a student's drum (as it has the WFL stand and the case as well), but privately owned...so I doubt they would have done it. Especially since it looks so professional. Usually you see people scratch their names in the shell or their phone number on the hoops etc etc....but Ive never seen such precision on a badge.

And some more! Of course it will need a gentle bath, but man...its gonna be nice. No scratches on the shell that I can see, and the gunk layer is minimal. Minor surface stuff that will wipe right off with a dawn bath. Pretty cool. Ive yet to determine if the lugs are aluminum or not. I dont have a good testing magnet handy...but the hoops most definitely are.

Oh and how about the "J" inside with red wax pencil? Any ideas?

Most likely an initial of someone that either placed the badge on it or drilled the lug holes. Might be able to see the wax pencil marks just below the bearing edge as well for the lugs.
