Thinking about letting a kit or two go Last viewed: 1 minute ago

So I have baby #2 on the way and I am really thinking about letting a kit or two go. At the moment I have two Ludwig kits; mint Clubdate kit in Red Sparkle and a WMP kit my wife got me (mixed dates but all original), a now complete Rogers Delta, Gretsch Round badge and Camco. That also does not include my modern kits and snares!

Anyway I am thinking about letting one Ludwig kit go first; I seem to keep finding them on a regular basis. The WMP kit has some serious mojo even though it is mixed in dates. The Clubdate though sounds awesome and the only thing the WMP kit has going for it is the 16" floor tom.

The kits I can see keeping for sure are my Camco, Gretsch and Rogers. The Ludwigs I am on the fence about although my Clubdate is at the moment in nicer overall condition.

First world problems! Laughing H

Or you could trade one of the Ludwigs for a Slingerland and you'd then have one kit by each of the big companies!

On a side note, I got rid of my modern kit...all vintage for me now.

...I'm sorry, but I don't see how the two are related. Need to gain some space? Looking for extra funds? If it's just merely a matter of "I should let one go BECAUSE I'm having a kid" then it might spawn feelings of resentment or you might just turn around and buy something else to fill the void. If it's time to let a kit go, don't rationalize it by claiming it's because of kid #2. I certainly hope you have a different reason.

With that out of the way, my vote goes for the clubdate.

It's more of a restraint on time. I spend a lot of time fixing up my drums and I feel like I wont have as much time to maintain my collection. At this point I think the rationale is what kits do I enjoy playing the most and letting the ones go I don't play as often.

I honestly thought the Clubdates also but I am on a roll with center lug kits :)

I don't think I could ever ditch my Sonor drums. They just sound too good!

I can tell you really don't want to sell anything. Just hang on to them. You can always sell later if you find you need the money or the room. Your still a good Dad even if you have a lot of drums you don't really need.

Gerald,

I am selling some kits but only to get other cool kits! I am ok with getting more drums so long as I let others guy. Like I learned yes they are my drums...but often only for a time. It's cool to let them out in the world and trade. Anyway I have a super cool kit on its way in!! Mums the word until the cards are dealt.
